Hello,

I'm afraid I'm a bit slow on the draw for posting my July test piece. I thought I was supposed to post it in my log -which I did.

I introduced myself in a forum but haven't been able to re-find it. It's in there someplace.

But it looks as if folks are also posting their 20 minute piece it in this forum -which I must say is interesting reading. It's a good idea to have a measure every month and certainly good information for the coach to have.

My July piece was a 2:05.6 -not very good but I did it. I'm interested to see how I do for the August piece -I hope 2:00 or under spilts. Unfortuantely my recent workouts do not indicate that might be a reality.

For the past couple of years, a month prior to the CRASH-Bs I've been able to crank out a couple of 20 minute pieces at 156.8 or so pace. Hopefully I'll be at that pace in a couple of months. I guess I'd better be at that pace in a couple of months!

It's hot down here in Texas for morning erging. I try to get to the boathouse early in the am for workouts.

I enjoy reading about what everyone is doing and how there testing is going.

Good luck and I'll be posting again at the end of August.

Carie

I've enjoyed reading how this little test went for others, and I'm sorry I haven't posted sooner. I have some catching up to do with entering my workout data.

I did the 20 minute piece on August 13. I've been on a couple of vacations since the first of August and just returned yesterday.

On the first trip, I was lucky to get on the water (but no erging) as a guest with the PT Crewsers and the Rat Island Rowing and Sculling Club in beautiful Port Townsend, Washington.

This past week, my husband and I each took an erg with us to fellow Long Beach rower and CRASH-B competitor Helen Frykman's beach house in Carpinteria, CA. She also keeps an erg there...So the three of us did the 20 minute piece together in front of the house (which, I'm sure seems perfectly normal to all of you , but we did get some curious looks from neighbors). Dolphins and seals (or are they sea lions?) frolicked in front of us and were fun to watch during the warm-up and cool down, but I don't recall looking at them during the piece!

If I've previously done a 20 minute piece for recorded meters at a controlled rating, I don't remember it....so I wasn't sure what to aim for. Anyway, results:

Top line with log card average: 20:00 5133 meters 1:56.8 24 spm

2:00 minute splits from log card:

2:00 511 1:57.4 24
4:00 511 1:57.4 24
6:00 512 1:57.1 24
8:00 513 1:56.9 24
10:00 512 1:57.1 24
12:00 514 1:56.7 24
14:00 513 1:56.9 25
16:00 512 1:57.1 24
18:00 514 1:56.7 25
20:00 517 1:56.0 24

And now, the 26 spm piece is fast approaching...

Best wishes to everyone for continued good training...

Joan
