Congrats Captain!!!
Great job!!

If you are away from your rower..cross train.Try a different aerobic activity. Will you be near a gym..near where you can walk, run, hike..jog.Do strength training..lots of great at home type workouts available without the need for a gym and machines. It is not good to do the same exercise mode every day..day in, day out.The body needs a change anyway.I have let my cross training sort of slide with this challenge but normally I row and do other things..ellipticals, treadmill, etc. We do better fitness -wise when when we cross train.HTH

Pat M

Hi Pat,

I don't know how often I'll be able to get to a gym, and I'll be staying with friends, so I may not have complete control of what my schedule is. I'm going to try to get guest passes and use exercising as a way to spend time with friends who do use gyms. For the ones who don't - I'm thinking of suggesting long walks. If it snows while we're visiting, I'll offer to help shovel. I've only been exercising regularly for 10 weeks, so I'm really worried about falling back into my old bad habits. I'm sure, though, that when I do get back home, all I'll need to do is post on the forum, and the ducks will get me back on track.

Emilia

Well, I'm back! After being sick, I actually felt pretty decent today.

I rowed four times today, due to multiple phone interruptions. Next time I'm gonna torpedo the dang thing! Nah, don't worry, I'll just unplug it. Anyway, I just added up all four totals and got EXACTLY 16,000 meters. Is that weird, or what?

Well, I'm hoping I'll get that 200K in before the end of the challenge.

The rest of Fowl Play is doing pretty well, though--way to go!

GO FOWL PLAY!

--Jen in WI

OK Jen, you are on. I had hoped to do 200 K but for many reasons, I haven't done as much rowing as I hoped.

Well there are 8 days left and I have 82 K to go. I am in! Lets GO ROW!

Susan

I think you and I are about neck and neck in meters right now, so we have the same amount to go to get the 200k. Maybe this will help me for the final stretch on the weight loss challenge, too. And if I commit to someone else on this, I won't be able to weenie out of it!

SO, FOWL PLAYERS!! Whatchya'll gonna do for this home stretch?? Did anyone else have a goal they wanted to meet for the JVTC? Any personal challenges anyone wanted to try for themselves? I'm contemplating a half marathon this weekend.

Susan, did you remember to count the meters you rowed for Indy??

Captain Emilia! Do you have a goal you wanted to shoot for this last week? After all, you've been such a slug for this whole challenge! Naw, I think you might have met a goal for yourself of the most meters you ever rowed in a month?? Nice job, O Fearless Feathered One!

Qwacky! Where are you?? Do your cheerleading, Pat!!

GO FOWL PLAY!!

--Jen in WI, who's obviously had waaaay too much caffeine today.

The JVTC has kept me motivated to row, sometimes more than once in a day. My goal was to hit my first million (obviously not all in this month!) and I am almost there - 979,683. I will make it!!

Marie

I want to get that 200k, and I should be able to do it.

No, I WILL DO IT!

ROW ROW ROW!

---Jen

Hmm... thinking of a goal for the last week is a good idea. I think DH is going for 200K, like some of you folks. That's seems to be a popular target. If I really get rock'n and roll'n, I could probably get to 90K.

However, today I am washed out. I was awake most of last night with a very upset stomach. Today I am weak and still can't really eat heartily, KWIM. I'll be happy if I am just able to do some erging tomorrow.

Schenley

Hello Jen and the rest of the Fowl Play gang,

I've reached a number of milestones:

reached 2 MM this month
most meters in a month
more meters than I ever thought I could do in a month
more meters than I ever will do again in a month
more meters than in any previous season
most consecutive days of exercise that I can remember

Did anyone notice that Ducks In A Row is now #5 in the University/Club Standings?

Keep Rowing! Except for Schenley, who really needs to rest and let the rest of the family use the rower for a while.

Marie, you're really close! I bet you'll make it to 1 MM in no time. Enjoy the T-shirt!

Emilia

Hey Emilia!

Yup, you've had a banner month, and done it all with great style! Very, VERY nice job, Capn. Emilia. You've been much more than just the Fowl Play organizer, you've been a true leader.

And all of the Fowl Players have been a great team, hey? Together, as of this point we've rowed over NINE MILLION METERS! That's almost 5,600 miles, feathered folks.

Great job, y'all!

--Jen in WI

This darn JVTC! I thought I would head to the YMCA at lunch to get in maybe 2,000 metres and then sit in the whirlpool and relax. Well, maybe just 3,000 . . . well, maybe 4,000. I finally stopped at 5,000 with just enough time for a quick shower, then back to the office.

1MM clearly in sight now - I am at 984,683! Yippee!

Marie

I've had days where I wanted to do a long row, but I could only do a couple of thousand. And then I've had other days like yours, where I only wanted to do a short row because I had so much other stuff to do....

Keep plugging away for that million meters!

--Jen

Hi Marie,

Well...you're closer to your 1 MM goal, but a shower really can't compare to a nice soak in a whirlpool. I have the same 'problem' with the JVTC. I also keep going for longer than I originally intended to row. I'm really tired of all the showers and laundry that follow so much rowing .

Great Rowing!

Emilia
