Maybe "Taff" is the obvious choice, since Llewellyn has already been used. Hell, we could even write a song. All together now...

#Taff the mighty dragon, lived by the sea
#But rowed indoors, and all because
#He liked to watch TV

Great stuff Daren A group called the 'The Seekers' made that song a huge hit over here (and elsewhere ?) in the late 60's (?) - I loved it then and your rendition brings back fond memories of that 'folk song' era. Here is another verse :-

# Taff the mighty Dragon, erging merr-i-lee
# Stri-i-ving to do his (her) best and set a new PB
# Alo-o-ong come some Oreful chaps from another team
# Try-y-ing to steal his (her) erg a-and flee the scene !

Other suitable verses can be added by our creative Taffers along the lines of 'scorching them with fiery breath' etc Carla can lead the Taff choir.

As for your 1K PB - fantastic. My 1K time is virtually the same as yours yet my 2K is 6:55 so that sub 7 has to fall VERY soon - once you row it so that there is something left in the tank for the last 500m !!! Great rowing Daren.

And great PB too Graham. 2:01 pace for a 5K must be a HUGE improvement on when you first started ? And that psychological barrier of holding sub 2:00 pace is soon to be broken it seems.

Niall - I like the sound of your 'last row Thursday then rest for BIRC' strategy - you want to be jumping out of your skin and raring to go at BIRC with NO leg soreness in my opinion ! Looking forward to your next post - remember not every 2K 'race' piece over the next week has to be a PB, just try to 'groove' your race plan. And maybe cut down on the 10k'ers a bit, focus is 2K !!!!!

Off to the gym now to draw that white line a bit further along

Martin
