New PB:

1,000M = 03:36.3

An improvement from 03:42.2, but missed my target 3:30 / 1:45, which means I still have much work to do to get anywhere close to breaking 7:00 within the 2005/2006 season.

Gotta go do some meters!

A new PB from this morning's handicap race.

1k - 3:18.0

My old PB (3:27) was in an interval session, so this is really the first attempt after training on the erg.

The race was full, and it was close at the finish. I was able to see 6 of the boats in 3D on the screen at the end. Then I just put my head down and pulled for the last 100...

Today's training program calls for a 3 km, a 2 km, and a 1 km, so I decided to use the 1 km to try for a better result than what I had about 3 weeks ago. I started off with my own 15' warmup first, followed by the recommended 10' warmup, and then went into the 3 workout pieces. I did the 3 and 2 km at 2:17.3 and 2:13.3 respectively and then went after the 1 km. I didn't use much strategy on this shot. With just a short time to go, I started much faster than normal, got bogged down in the middle, but managed to have a little kick in the end (no, not that kind of kick and not that kind of end).

Time: 4:03.1 (previous post-op best was 4:06.8)
Average rate: 31 spm
Splits:
47.6 1:59.0 30 spm
48.5 2:01.2 30
48.9 2:02.2 32
49.4 2:03.5 33
48.8 2:02.0 33
Altitude: 4000 ft.

While I am at it, this thread is enabling me to post attachments. I have for several days to respond to the view from the erg thread, but the "Add This Attachment" was never enabled, so I am posting them here while I have the chance

The first is the view from the seat of the erg. Not very inspiring, but not distracting:[attachmentid=106]

The second is what I would have seen that day if I used the erg in the living room and had a picture window installed. The Palisade Group had just had a new snowfall the night before which would have been a big distraction:
[attachmentid=107]

The third shows another perspective on rowing. It sure beats working out on an erg:
[attachmentid=108]

Did a 8 x 500M interval w/o today, with 1K w-up and c-down. Took an hour off and decided to rip off a 500M for PB. Got it:

1:38.3

... down from 1:41.3.

Wonder what it would have been if I'd left out the first 8 x 500M pieces?

Disappointed this was as a HW (166 lbs.) rather than as a LW (165 lbs.). Maybe next week, after less sweets, wine, and beer (my nemesis).

Slowly but surely ... very ...

-- Mark
