Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Post by [old] jal183 » July 1st, 2005, 6:41 pm

Alright. I'd been chomping at the bit to get a rowing machine at home and to start working out again (after a LONG hiatus). $850 was a little too steep, and I didn't quite know how to convince my better half that it was a good investment. A recent Wellness checkup at work gave me all the ammunition (for her) and motivation (for me) to get my flabby fanny moving.

Looking to drop 45 lbs over the next year and improve my level of fitness (damn off the charts cholesterol level ).

This seems like a nice friendly spot to share my meters and make some new friends.

Cheers to all!

-John

I had a NordicTrack skier for 15 years. I had to quit skiing because of ankle surgery 5 years ago. Put on weight and finally bought the C2. I have to admit as much as I liked skiing I like rowing even better. Having a machine a home makes things a lot easier.

I started in Feb 2005 and needed to drop 40 lbs. I'm now halfway there. Looking forward to getting to know you a little bit better.

Kevin

Hi, guys,

Welcome to the new folks!

I've had to take a couple of days off. I was having a lot of joint pain and fatigue and needed to know if it was the arthritis or if I was pushing to hard with my exercise. Seems to be a bit of both. I'll resume rowing next week, but I'll scale back my efforts a bit.

On the bright side, I've lost a few pounds and a few inches--1-1/2" off my waist and 1" off my hips!

Hi everyone,

I originally joined up with thew Rowpro rowers, but this group is far more supportive. Used the erg a bit in the past as a warm up for weights, but it's been quite a while since I've been in a gym and I decided it was time to get back.

Been rowing for a few days only as it only just arrived in the mail, but I hope to add at least 1K a day till I have a little more time to work out a schedule. Just got a weight bench too and it feels good to be at it again

Currently 123 kg and hoping to shed about 23 of them by focussing more on the cardio aspect and the weights as secondary...

edit - thanks to SpaCityBulldog for the earlier invite, much appreciated.

Tom

Seriously. Are you machines? I thought I was joining a group of people looking to lose some weight, not train for the Ironman.

Just focus on total time. 15-30 minutes, work up to 60 then shave time once in a while maybe once every two weeks or once a week if you row daily to do a PB. I do know that a LOT of meters were rowed during the Summer Solstice challange. We also were moving up in the standings and that made things exciting. Teammates continued to row a lot of meters climbing past the Dutch to 10th for a day or two before they pulled their 24 hour challange.

I did more than I had ever done before in a week and I ended up catching a cold because of it. And I believe Bobbi has already mentioned she has had some problems since then.

Things have slowed down since that week and the team seems to be back in a more normal rowing mode. Like you I too like the numbers aspect of the PM3 and it's easy to get caught up in things and do to much if you're not careful. At least that is very true for me.

Kevin
