Welcome, Randy.

Congrats on the shrinking waistline, Copywriter!

Thanks for the birthday greetings, Carole Mac.

For my birthday, I rowed over 7500 meters (in several different pieces at home and at the gym), set a new PB for 2000 meters, and hit 100,000 meters for the season (which I started on May 6.) I also spent some time with my dad, who is visiting from Florida, and am being taken out to dinner by family. It's been a great day!

Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Post by [old] Rhody » June 2nd, 2005, 12:24 pm

I'm excited to have joined the team! What a great support group! Sounds like we are all in the same boat with weight loss.
I am 45 and would like to lose 80-90 pounds. I too am a Registered Nurse and agree with Bobbi that health care providers tend to take care of everyone but themselves.
My older brother died a year and a half ago at the ripe old age of 51 from a massive heart attack, and that has been a wake-up call for me to try to get my health in better shape. I wouldn't want my husband and children to have to go through what his family did.
My husband bought me the C2 for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I have had periods of time when I used it faithfully and then periods when I neglected it. I have found really the only form of cardio exercise that I really enjoy. When I use it regularly I find my energy level goes through the roof! My problem recently has been that I have been having trouble with tendinitis in my elbow, and stopped rowing for a few weeks to try to heal it. Now that it is feeling better I am back on my machine. I also joined a gym for the weight training, but that has also been on hold because of my elbow. I am hoping to get back there next week. I find my best time to exercise is early in the morning before I go to work. I usually do 4-5k on the rower. This week I have been only doing 4K as I am trying to work back into it.
My problem with weight loss is two fold--I think I am deep in the heart of perimenopause and it truly seems harder to drop the pounds. Also, we do a lot of boating on the weekends and it is too easy to eat and drink too much.
But..............................
Thanks to Specialt for inviting me to join the team, and a new group of supporters and motivators, I am now on a mission. My goal is to row on a real boat on real water, I tried it last year and due to the weight it was not a pretty sight! I have convinced my husband to promise me that if I can get to my goal weight then he will buy me a scull so I can row on the river when I'm not in my family room!
Anyways, good luck to all of you.
You do know what team stands for right?
Together
Each
Achieves
More

Go Team!
Martha

Ok, I just got on my C2 yesterday for the first time since December. (Actually, just logged back in to the forums for the first time since then as well.)

I think I'll join your team if you don't mind someone who's starting back slowly. With a little external motivation and accountability, perhaps it will be easier to stick with it despite being somewhat naturally lazy.

Thanks, -A

(BTW, Hi, I'm Amanda. Bit of a Sox nut. Figured I'd row during the games when I got home. I'm a friend to children and small animals and don't bite.)

It was just about so fantastic I nearly died.

Am going back for a week over the 4th of July and will see one game that weekend. Then hopefully back at the end of Sept/start of Oct for the last home series as well.

I'm actually really excited to start rowing again. I believe I shall devise a plan to increase both time and distance steadily until I reach something respectable again. How many club/team people here have rowpro? Maybe someday we could do it together.

I'm very slow and out of shape and woeful now, but I have no problem being the sacrificial slowpoke to build up everyone else's ego. I might just, gasp, even go back to the gym one day this week.

Stop the presses!

-A (yeah, I'm procrastinating, shhh)

Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Since there are some good Virginians here and I am trying to lose weight for my wedding in September (started at 196.8 on April 21, down to 182.6, and hoping to get to 150 (which may be a little ambitious for a 5'8 guy)), I thought I'd join your friendly group. I'll try not to slack too much on the weekends.

Seth

Hot Dang Seth. You've got a pot full of meters rowed this year.

You've pushed us over the 2 Million mark and into 16th place.

Thanks Bulldog...an impending wedding date and a desire to look less like a penguin in my tuxedo has me rather motivated.
