Weight Loss/ Weight Control
Started 2 weeks ago at 215#. Today at 212.4#. Have been working up very slowly as I have arthritis and other health issues and am very out of shape-I'm up to 20 minutes a day 5-6X/wk and my goal is 30 minutes a day on workdays and an hour on non workdays. I lost 35# three years ago and hadn't made any progress since then. My goal is to get in better cardiovascular shape and weight loss is secondary. If I were to dream, I would love to get down to 150#-I'm 5'8".
Ted

I'm down 2 lbs this week, and aim for an average of 1 lb per week with a goal of loosing 20 lbs by the end of June. I do better if my goals are not too lofty.
Meri

Congratulations everyone. I think this is a great thread where we can concentrate on pounds lost rather than meters rowed (although there is a correlation I think I would prefer to have my goal be pounds lost to keep me motivated instead of meters rowed -- but that's just me I suppose).

Okay, in my last post on the other thread (2/2/06):

Present weight: 203 (since adding the weight lifting I have added a few pounds of muscle as I have increased the pounds of iron I can lift)
Goal: 165
Pounds lost since 1/1/06: 17

New results 2/7/06:

Present weight: 199
Pounds lost since 1/1/05: 21
Net lost since 2/2/06: -4

Mike

hmmm. i seem to be cutting weight off at an almost unhealthy rate compared to all of you. I started off this week(as in last tues) @ 282lb and now (as of an hour ago) I am 275.

i think the reason i had not lopped much weight off at the beginning of the season is because I was building up muscle mass(i'm a hellofalot stronger than i was 4 1/2 month's ago (also i started to moderateley restrict what goes down the chute)

anyways good job all of ya and keep it up(er... down)

and is all of that weight loss bad at all? i.e. to lose that much that fast?

oh and my goal is to be at 240-250 by may(my 18th b-day is in may)

Okay - this week's loss - 1.5 lbs.

I started at 258 in September of 05, now down to 238. I am trying to clip along at a 1 to 1.5 lb per week loss rate until I hit my goal weight of 190 by the first of next year.

I am hoping that by keeping my loss per week lower and being patient, I will build some better exercise and eating habits, which are really the source of my weight gain. I am finding that I am still eating enough to be satisfied (holding my intake at around 2000 to 2300 calories per day) and can still enjoy eating out. I also currently exercise (combination of rowing and running) five days per week.

It's hard to say how much weight loss is water loss, etc., so you just have to average out the weight loss to determine what is going on.

Typically, the goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week, but I lost 4 last week and that could be related to drinking less water (some of the pounds) or actual loss. Next time I weigh in, I'll see -- as long as the trend is downward vis-a-vis weight, and a smaller waist line, bigger biceps, pec's, quads, etc., and an increase in strength, then I'll be happy.

Hi - I started on September 25th - weighing in at 168 pounds - on January 5th 2006 I weighed 154 pounds and will weigh again on Feb. 15th. I think that besides losing pounds am gaining muscles so it is a slow process - don't know how to speed up the weight loss ??

Thanks Mike,
We're going to a Casablanca party brother-in laws 50th. Never seen the movie though. Have to dress up in character, my husband want to pull a Prince Henry and dress up as an SS. Fortunately for me I have a nice white jacket and tie ready and waiting for him.
M

Down 2 lbs this week. ( started in Aug at 220, down to 200 after holiday challenge, back up to 205 by mid January, now at 201 with 180 as goal). Counting calories on sparkpeople.com helps a lot! Knees ache pretty bad, so will try alternate activity for a few days. Good luck to all!
Meri

Try raising your pace time a little and don't push as hard on the drive, that should relieve some of the stress. Also check to see if you are letting the handle go back to close to wheel, I was doing that and it really compressed my knees too much. Good luck and when in doubt ALEVE does wonders for me!
Mary
Alternate activities are good too-that might give me a chance to get within 100,000 meters of you!

I would like to join this group.

I am not sure what my weight loss goals are. But I know they are between 15 and 30 pounds! 15 being in order to fit in my clothes! 30 being to row lightweight and to looks good in my clothes.

I weighed 158 at my doctors office - then 159 the next day on my scales. Since I am going to use my home scales - I will go with 159 as my starting weight. I am trying WW (again) and will be weighing in on Monday.

Wish me luck. I just made blackberry muffins that are lower in calories etc etc - and they are absolutely inedible.
