Weight Loss/ Weight Control
Need to lose 3 kg by saturday morning (it is now monday) to race lightweight. I am a female, currently 63.7 and need to weigh in at 60.42.

ANY tips at all would be great!!!

Atfer saturday I will hedge the weight off slowly but for now its about rapid weight loss!! I know it will all come back after weigh in!

1) Don't eat.

2) Work out like a maniac.

3) Do it NOW, so you regain as much strength as possible between now and Saturday.

That kind of weight loss can probably only be done by dehydration, and it's not necessarily all that safe... I used to drop 7 to 10 pounds before weigh-in by using the steam room for about an hour or so. After sweating for 8-10 minutes or so, I'd go weigh myself and rinse off in a lukewarm shower to cool off a bit, and then go back to the steam room again... repeating as needed to take off the weight.

Of course, this was in a situation where the actual race wasn't until the day after the weigh-in, but at least the water sweated off can be fairly quickly re-absorbed by drinking plenty of fluids afterwards and I avoided starving or being dehydrated for a prolinged period of time.

So far, down to 62 so its only really 1 and a half kg to go. I think I may end up dropping 1 kg the night before - by having a sustagen dinner and lunch on friday.

Any one have any meal ideas for dinner? i think that is the hardest bit for me!! ie. low fiber... not too much meat but still a good bit of protein!

I hope you are not planning on being able to row very well though because you are going to drop a lot of strength just from the water loss let alone from some of the muscle mass you will have lost from cutting your calories too. Exercise with warm clothes on to loss even more water.

As we were taught in wrestling, doing a rapid weight loss is dangerous to our health, so as you were previously advised, be careful! When you are dehydrated you loss about 20% of your strength, and it doesn't come back the next day either. So do be careful. Ki wo tsukette.
