I have a PM2 monitor and know that it has a value of $40 toward the purchase of a PM3 monitor. I have seen several postings suggesting that a PM2+ monitor can be sold on eBay.

I know the PM2+ monitor can connect to your PC for use with erow etc. and that the PM2 cannot.

My questions is whether people have been able to get more than the trade in value ($40) on a regular PM2 monitor on eBay as well.

Or should I just trade in it?

trade it in to C2, who knows what you'll get on e-bay but I can't imagine much more than 40 bucks without tricking some sucker. Avoid the hassle of e-bay and keep a nice conscience and give it back to C2 is my advice.

If I didn't have a pm2 I would definitely pay more than $40 for one.

There could well be someone on the forum that would buy it from you. I've picked up spares from folks upgrading, they've been nice in selling it for the $40 + s/h. I've even had one given to me that I gave away to upgrade another from a PM1. The "Forum market" can be a useful and beneficial directly to individuals.

I currently have a PM2 and want to upgrade in the near future as well, either to a PM2+ or a PM3 so that I can give the online thing a try. Is there any real advantage with the 3 over the 2+, given that I will likely be buying RowPro at the same time?

Mark

I want to purchase a used PM that has the heartbeat monitor. I don't care about online racing or anything, and don't care about the visual condition of the monitor case as long as heartrate and 500m split time works OK.

Please PM me if you have one for sale, and don't want to hassle with the trade-in stuff. I currently have a model B (w/PM1) and a C (w/PM2 , but no HR monitor).

Don't all pm2's work with a heart rate monitor?

If not, just put your wrist receiver on the handle like I do.

Tape a 4" wide piece of 1/2 or 3/4" PVC to the front top of the handle.

Then you can attach the watch receiver around this, very easily, any time.

I prefer having the receiver on the handle. It is easier to read this way, is closer to your chest, you can see the drag factor at the same time, and it doesn't get mixed up with the other displays on the monitor.

Watch works fine, never loses signal, can't say the same for the PM3, and I haved placed the receiver all over on the rail.

PM2 died last week. Just got a PM3 and a new heartrate monitor pickup. Installed on the Model B. Using the old chest belt, the HM works great. Much better than the PM2, as regards heart rate. Mounted under the rail between the footpads. Lots going on with the new monitor vs the PM2. The log card is very cool. The display is better. Have not tried any of the hi-end features, but I have 17k meters on it and it's all good IMHO.

I set up a user for my 9 year old and he sat down, turned on the tv, and rowed 6800 meters himself, in about an hour. That would have never happened on the PM2!

skip

BTW, I got one of the Polar wrist monitors too, and I recommend it. Got the M61 online so my wife can use it too (it accomodates 2 users) when she swims. I got the Polar wrist monitor because I had had problems with the HM on the PM2. And I think there is a lot to like about it. If you have a rowing machine, a working PM2, and all you need is a heart monitor, I would get the wrist monitor I think. They are available online for about $100 vs the $140 C2 price. Or you can step up to the M61 for $140 and have 2 users. Use it off the rower too, which is worth doing when you hike or ride your bike. Check it out.
