Yesterday, in the middle of an 8x4' TR workout programmed in as intervals by time, the PM3 went blank at the end of the 4th piece. After a few seconds of shock, I hit the menu back button and got the "choose language" then "set date" screens. Trying to open the memory screen gave me a big zero; everything had been wiped from memory, as if no one ever rowed the machine before. (& I had not written down the first 4 pieces, d_mn!) No error codes showed up - can't figure how such a total memory wipe would happen. <br>Any ideas? explanation?<br>MP<br>Does remind me of what used to happen when I studied too much for an exam...

Do you know what version of firmware you are running on the PM3? I can't remember exactly how to look for that, but it is under one of the features of the PM3 (utilities or other). Search the C2 site for PM3 firmware and you get info on how to upgrade it if you need to. Version 82 is the latest I am pretty sure.

I can't remember... <br><br>Are you using a Log Card? There are problems both with running out of memory on the log card or on the PM3 itself. Apparently the fix is "Don't run out of memory"<br><br>Cheers!

It happened to me once, but I think that it was after I turned the PM3 on but before I had finished programming in my workout. Not sure if it was before or after downloading version 82. I think it was before, and it may have been the incentive I needed to detach the PM3 and bring it to the computer.<br><br>Maybe your PM3 hates 8 X 4:00 TR as much as I do?<br><br>Rick

Dr. Z, A power loss will result in wiping out the workouts in the PM3 memory. Check that the batteries are not somehow loose in the case, and check the tightness of the two case screws located behind the arrow keys. These hold the battery contacts on the circuit board and if loose can cause a power interrupt. Also make sure you are running the latest revision, 82. Earlier versions did have some bugs related to interval workouts......JonW

Thank you to everyone who replied with lots of excellent bits...I was not using a log card (that would have been way easy!), and this is a boatclub erg - so I will check the software version & see if no one minds letting me download the most current version & putting the monitor back in place and check contacts, etc., which probably would come loose on an erg that sees heavy use. The hint that the memory clearing happens mostly with interval workouts was great; this behavior would be a disaster in the midst of test pieces for a crew. Thanks again, MP
