Alright...so I discovered that the gym at my apartment property has an old Model A. So (since I don't have my own erg...YET) I went to the gym and gave it a go.

I would be rowing for about one minute, then my heel's would be on top of that damned wooden block! First, the straps aren't staying very secure and are coming loose. Second, when I go into the catch, my heels come up and slowly but surely end up on the top of the wooden block...as opposed to being in front and secured by the block! AHHH!!!

Is there anything that I can do? Blow it up and hope they buy a Model D??? Buy a Model D for myself?! Please help.

You can outfit the footplates with Flex-feet just like the Model D (and get a new handle) for very little money.

Considering your main hobby, rowing (restoring if necessary) a Model A seems far more appropriate than buying the "newer" one.

Does it still have the Analog Speedo?

It occurs to me that you might be talking about a Model B, in which case the same parts listed above will work. The model B has a caged aluminum flywheel, the Model A flywheel looks much like a spoked bicycle wheel with the most durable tire than can be conceived of.

Ok, it must be a Model B. But I'm not going to put money into it. It's not mine! lol

And yeah...my main hobby is expensive...but this erg doesn't have an analog speedo, PM1, PM2, or PM3. I have no way of measuring my workouts until February when my crew starts training again.

I think I'm just sort-of anxious to get a Model D because they're so friggin' cool and I could use a piece of fitness equipment that will last a lifetime and work my whole body.

Well, I was only off by 3 years and one manufacturer . The grill reminded my of my old satellite.

She is a fine looking beast, especially as she's pushing 40 (years old). You've done a nice job with her.

As for the Model A (or other Model), you could try duct-taping your feet to the wood before each workout. Probably cheaper than a retrofit. One roll should last the whole winter.

Rick

Try to let loose the straps. It will let you row and if necessary reposition the feet.

The GT looks great. Thats a fine muscle car.
