I started with a first trial a few days after I got my erg in May '05 at just over 8:00. Now I'm down to 7:26.1, and hope to break 7:20 this weekend, and 7:00 by end of next season (or sooner if training and adaptation to it allows). And I'm no athlete ... so ... I say go for it!

I also went from 183 to 163 pounds in the process.

I find I have to read the thread because I don't really understand some of the things I see in the summary. I've run into the same thing with reading Xeno's plan, too. I'm not familiar with the erging terminology, I guess. Mostly, my confusion surrounds the numbers-only parts. Can anyone clear up what this means? (For example, on day 1 week 1: 2k-2/3 or Day 2: ~2k +15)

day 1 week 1: 2k-2/3 or Day 2: ~2k +15

I can tell you that "2k +15" means = "your 2K best pace (PB or SB) +15 seconds"

So, at 8:00 for a 2K, it would be 2:15 pace for training (2:00 + 0:15 = 2:15).

PB = personal best
SB = season best

I'd only be guessing what he means by "2k-2/3" ... sorry!

So in the previous example 1:57 or 1:58 pace

I had a coffee too late yesterday afternoon while driving to Cincinnati to stay alert on the road, and have had just about no sleep this past night (it's 5:21 am here). This happens to me as I'm very sensitive to caffeine. I knew better. I race at 8:40, and I'm very close to weight limit as well. Oh well, no excuses ... that's life ... my own doing. It will just hurt more.

Yeah, I was on a rant last weekend. Some things are just a burr under one's saddle. But never would have taken your head off ... no reason ...
