For the 26k I rated 21 to 22, with a very consistent split of 2:01 or 2:02. I saw very few 2:00s and 2:03s. I had the damper at 1, which was probably a drag factor in the high 80s, though I didn't check it.

I did it just for kicks; I'd been frustrated at my relatively short time-to-exhaustion at what was, before I started running and neglecting the erg, pretty easy splits like 1:56 or 1:57. So I figured I'd drop the power and kick the length way out; just give the ego a rest and actually listen to what my body was telling me about how much pop it was prepared to output.

I'm not sure that I'll ever do 30k continuous; I've rowed semi-long to long distance on the erg for four years now, and I only did 30k once, and that in the blazing hot top-floor of the old Cornell boathouse in July for weight-loss purposes.

I would like to do a full marathon, but I'm erging in the cardio room of a university gym, rather than in a boathouse or another more "rower friendly" environment. I get enough weird looks when I'm cranking away for over an hour and leaving a big ol' puddle on the floor as is. I have no idea what the staff would think were I to line up pre-opened packs of PowerGel and squeeze bottles of Gatorade on the floor next to the erg and row for the 2:48 or whatever a full marathon would take.

(The running marathon I did in November, my first, took 2:58... and I find it just tickles me that I can run and erg about the same notional "speed" over the longer distances.)

Still not sure if it goes here, but I broke 200k today. That went faster than the first 100k. 300k is gonna be tough to reach, but I think I may be able to do it.

I got my C2 3 weeks ago and decided, after very consistent training, that I'd set a baseline for a bunch of different ranked times and distances. I've already seen improvement in just 3 weeks, so I wanted to get my times down so I could really appreciate my improvement.

I know that my time isn't great or anything, but I sort of surprised myself today. I'm a good 40 lbs overweight these days. But I've lost over 5lbs in 2 weeks and look forward to losing more. I'm 31. Oh yeah, and male.

My 2k time was: 8:05.1
30 minutes 6758m

Hopefully I'll be on this thread again in a few weeks with even better scores. My goal is to imrove enough to compete in the CRASH-B's next year.
