Good luck! That's a truly scary time! Looks like qualification's in the bag for you, but you may as well do it in style with a world record! Inspiring stuff.

The reason being, is that I'm getting married the first week of October, and don't think I'll be in top shape after a weeks worth of honeymooning.

Did 5K in 20:50.9 this morning. Kind of embarassed to post it in the "brag" forum, but I did knock 46 seconds off my previous PB two months ago. Extrapolating on this improvement, I plan on being sub 15:00 withing twelve months!
May have learned an important lesson in that I left my HRM in the bedroom, instead selecting a realistic target pace, sticking to it and letting my HR go where it may.

good going Mark.....

I'm following the same programme and after several weeks of low spm, longer distances did a first set of 7' pieces, higher spm last night (warm up, 3x7' with active recovery inbetween, cool down). Felt like I was flying. Comfortable and feeling very controlled......

Haven't got a 2k test for a couple of weeks but am feeling confident. From another mere mortal:

30 minute PB today at lunch break- 7840 (1:54:8). first time i've broken 1:55 on a longer piece. i was pleased, especially because i really had to drag myself to go workout. i never have time to warm up, so i just sit down and see what happens. today i did the first 500 in sub 1:59 and figured "what the heck".

andrew

38, 5'10", 180#
