Those few meters are hard earned.<br><br>By the way, have you tried lightening up your stroke a little for (racing) the hour row? I think that 27 spm might be ideal. You are rowing at 10.2 SPI. 9.7 SPI at 27 spm is 1:50 pace. 10 SPI at 27 spm is 1:48.5. <br><br>11 SPI at 27 spm is right about 17K.<br><br>ranger

First time going for a pb in a long time (yesterday). I just started rowing again about 3 weeks ago and have been fearful of opening it up, both because of the pain and because I didn't want a crappy result! I was astounded to pull 1:53.0 for 60 minutes, 15936m, 243w, 25spm (was shooting for 26, 9.5 spi, 247w, ended up a bit shy of that). I had the DF at 108.<br><br>Anyway I'm totally stoked about that. No way that I would try for 2 PBs in 2 days like George there, yikes. I almost stopped at 30 minutes and again at 19 (1/3 to go!), but held on, and feel fine today.<br><br>I think I'll do a 2k sometime this week.

I dont think that it is a case of going for a PB as knowing in your head you can go that fast one day means that to go another 10m the next is achievable. Thats a low DF do you always row at that level?<br><br>Small chunks at a time can make a big gains over the year ...<br><br>Go get it !!

Hi George, thanks! Well, I've been rowing at 120-122, but raner posted somewhere that an hour effort should be at 26 spm and drag 105. I had been training with the 120, but sat down with 108. I see you use a 135 (?). It didn't seem to be a problem for me, though perhaps next time I will use the 120 I train at.

After about 6 weeks of low spm and modest pace I decided to do a 5k and see how the breathing held up so went out at old PB pace of 1:44.8 approx.<br><br>Held it very comfortably to end at:<br><br>5000m / 17:18.2 / 28spm / 133df / 1:43.8 / 313w = 10sec PB<br><br>Felt that with a bit more effort and after some pace work sub 17 is very much a possibility.

Tks Nick and Rich .... what I need to do now is keep my focus on my 2k in September and not get side tracked chasing PB's. If they come as part of a training session that is good, but from limited experience I know it is to easy to blow a days planned workout by letting time chasing get in the way.

Well done now I have to catch you again.This season I have done 5 PB's :500m: 1:22.5(Previous 1:23.5)<br> 1000m:2:56.8(Previous 3:00.4)<br> 6000m:20:03.9(Previous20:11.4)<br> 60min:17221m(Previous 17064)<br> 1/2Marathon 1h14:19.7(previous1h14:54)<br>I would like to race on e-row for PB's. Being in South Africa I dont have any exposure to competition.Hope to see some of you no e-row
