I'm not going to do the CRASH-B until next year. a) My training did not get me where I wanted to be...PRd at a 7:38.3 back in January. Really wanted a 7:30 before going to Boston, so I'll try for next year--8) came down with some chest cold thing 2 weeks prior to the race--was happy it only lasted a week, but I think I brought it back on myself after doing the 2K--have been coughing since. Only did a 7:46.1 :(

So, that's really frustrating after putting in all this work, but I believe some lessons were learned.

Good thing I had some really supportive, helpful folks there who gave me some feedback afterwards. Mike McGuirk and Rock Singewald were there cheering me on (THANKS, GUYS!), and I got some good feedback about needing to strengthen my upper body so I can finish better.

So, it's off to the gym I go--again!

Beth :?

Hello Beth,

Well everyone else in the world helped you out, so I didn't want to be left out. So, it's too late now I see, but I wanted to thank you for your story, and for sharing some of your struggles at the end of the season as well. Makes me feel not entirely alone after the end of the worst season ever for me, that ended somewhat similarly with a scratched competition in the middle of a chest virus. And also with an unhealthy dose of overtraining and chasing different training plans on my part. As you say, lessons to be learned, let's hope most within a year. Best of luck with your water regattas and onward. I'm also thinking of nationals in Seattle and more in Jersey myself.

- Doug
My mixed 8 got out of the heats, but alas, lots and lots of talent, so we're trying again...Worlds are out our way, so hope to be in good shape by then.

Good luck, :) Beth
