John,

I've been waiting for a comprehensive report on the slides. There were a few posts when you first got them but I thought by now you would have had a chance to use them at all distances and given us your views on how they impact your rowing times.

For the record my 1K, 2K and 6K SBs are on slides and my 5K, 10K, HM, 30min and 60min are standard. I haven't tried a 500 or marathon yet this season. Time will tell if I can beat that 2K time at the CRASH-Bs.

Frank

Hi Frank,

I am planning to use the slides for a session in the morning and will report the results.

This will be an hour warm up and then 30 minutes of pace, the same as two days ago, so will give me a good comparison. Then I plan to keep alternating sessions like these twice a week for at least the next month.

I won't be doing any time trials on the slides, as my first experiments showed they are 1.5 to 2 seconds faster per 500 meters for me, being 143 pounds. So I don't want to waste any efforts that I wouldn't feel right about ranking and would rather not put myself in that kind of dilemma.

However, I will like to do more sessions that will give me some more close comparisons, and will report them here when I do.

As last time, a lot of my reporting will be about using the slides and the feel of them, rather than any time comparisons, as those are a rather mute subject.

I am looking forward to trying them out again in the morning.
