It's good to see people finding homes for the big fellas. I like the Tibetan Mastiff but we don't have a room big enough for him ...
Sure, he runs and plays with our terrier mix, Skiff, in the garden, but he loves to lounge pretty much all day long. When we come home cold, we call our Yeti, and we have an insta heating blanket. He has a dry mouth and does not smell. Have I said yet that we love our Y E T I ! ! !
XENO

Take a look at my avatar. My two TM's are housedogs. "Room" is not a problem -- like most large breeds, they're not very active indoors. There are other issues related to TM ownership, but indoor space is not one of them.

For TM rescue information: <a href='http://www.tibetanmastiffinfo.com/rescu ... I better say something about rowing so people don't object to our raving about large dogs. If you have a mellow indoor dog, then you can use your C2 in peace while your dog takes a nap and doesn't bother you.

Our rescued greyhound spends a great deal of time arranging the pillows on the couch, and then settles in and curls up. Greyhounds are "45 mph couch potatoes." When he does sprint, you should see him fly. I've never had one, but everybody says Great Danes also make great dogs for small spaces such as apartments. It's not intuitive, but it seems the bigger the dog, the less space it takes.

QUOTE

He has a dry mouth and does not smell. Here is what we do to keep our greyhound odor free: We get toothbrushes and tooth paste (poultry flavored is his favorite) at the pet store. I vigorously rub his belly with one hand and gently rub his throat with the other hand. The wife brushes his teeth at the same time. Rubbing the belly and throat is a reminder that he is in a submissive posture. The first few times she just did a few strokes on the front teeth, until he got used to the procedure. We do this once a day, and if I say "Shall we brush your teeth?" he jumps off the couch and comes running to me.
Our greyhound also doesn't mind baths at all, those infrequent times when he needs one.

Byron

After a great deal of research and discussions with some very experienced Tibetan mastiff breeders, we converted to raw feeding a couple months ago. They eat mostly raw chicken, bones and organs included, with some other raw meats like turkey and pork. The result -- no dog breath, smaller stools, shinier coats, no allergy problems, overall healthier dogs. You may want to look into it, Byron & Xeno. If you have questions, PM me.
