I am just wondering:

who has purchased one of Xeno's DVDs,
which one you have purchased,
and has it helped you achieve your goals.

I want to buy one but am unsure which would be most suitable. I am rowing for general health and fitness with an eye towards the 7:00 barrier

Feel free to share your opinion Xeno.

This DVD is a sample of how we run the workouts at the Iron Oarsman.

DVD 2 Upper body strength shows more in detail that you can use the rowing machine in a more asymetric fashion.

DVD 3 Is technique pure. It shows the stroke in slow motion while I coach my friend Lucas on the rower. I also make row with bad technique to illustrate how NOT to row, we laughed a bit when we were filming.

DVD 4 is more of a straight rowing workout. We row 3X6' at different rates. During the off minutes we discuss rowing technique as we gently row to recover from the 6' piece.

I hope this sheds light on the content of the DVDs that we put together at the Iron Oarsman.

Have a great day.
XENO

For your specific goal of sub 7:00, you may prefer the 3x6 min cardio workout. There is enough technical points covered during the warm-up and during the active recovery between the 6 min intervals. The technical points made a huge difference for me: I used to pull 1:58 at 22 spm and 1:55 at 24 spm, and within a week, I was able do the same at 19 spm and 21 spm respectively, and at 24 spm I pull 1:51.
What is very impressive in the last 6 min interval is that Xeno and his friend start at 22 spm for 2 minutes, then move to 24 spm for the next 2 minutes, then one minute at 26 spm and the last minute at 28 spm. This is an average of 24.3 spm, yet they cover 1817 meters! This is an average pace of 1:39. And it looks so easy! No doubt, these guys could do a 2K under 6 min.

Hi Mark,
I have all of them. Xeno's (and Lucas's) enthusiasm is contagious. I use them all, and the time flies when you're watching one. They're great fun. You get a good workout, and at the same time you get tips and reminders on technique.
Byron

I wish I could meet with him more often here in California. You can purchase the DVDs through me or through the website. When you directly email me we use PAYPAL. Through the website the transaction is done via a billing service.
This morning I was a little under the weather and I ran the workout with DVD 1 through the TVs.
I hope you will have a great winter in U.K.
Don't forget to jump into a direct flight to LAX and come row for a few days at the Iron Oarsman in Orange County. We are situated among Disnely Land, San Diego, LA, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farms, Pasadena where thee annual rose parade is, the Getty Musuem which purchases stolen art, and South Coast Plaza the second largest Mall in north America.
XENO

I have them all ... they are all good in their own way, but the technique DVD is great for someone wanting to sharpen their stroke but who does not have an experienced and capable technique coach available.

Xeno and Lucas give some great "here's how it should feel" and "here's how it should look" tips that stick with you and make it easier to get a "grooved" stroke -- something I'm just beginning to work on ...

There are also "here's how it SHOULDN'T feel" and "here's how it SHOULDN'T look" tips that are actually almost comical. I love Xeno's line, "OK, good, now get the chain flapping Lucas and show them a really poor stroke."
