well once again our little forum was hacked - from about 2:30 - 3:30pm the forum was again trying to install some maliscious code. I'm not prone to shouting, but this time vented on some poor sys admin in invision land about their utter inability to maintain their systems.

long story short we are 'patched' and the trojan that was installed on the forum site in invision land was deleted (this is how they rehacked even after the board was upgraded from last time).

anyone else miss the days of pen and paper?

sorry for any computer problems that ensued.

-bill

Time for everyone to switch to macs (this is just one out of about a 100,000 good reasons).

The freeware phpBB (which is supposed to be less secure) forum over at http://concept2.co.uk/forum hasn't yet suffered the same fate. (Although we've had some weird spammy stuff appearing in the weblog shoutboxes.)

I will say that I can't tell whether this forum has been hacked; as my browser isn't ActiveX enabled and isn't built on the Swiss cheese security model.

I was on the board around 3:00 pm and my computer was infected with the byteverify trojan. Ran virus scan and deleted it. Also receieved the e-mails the other day. Would be good if you guys could find out who was behind this.

Anybody know if David Hart is de-worming the UK site?

It appears to have been taken off line; I'm hoping it's not because it's been hacked but that it's to keep it from being hacked....

I think the GetNewPost links are serving a virus IFRAME this morning.

Seems like IPB is having a real problem keeping their system secure. phpBB or not, it sounds like the problem is virus infected host machines - not web forum exploits. Then again, maybe the host can't stop the virus postings because they don't really understand where they're coming from (yet).

Mike
