Less Rowing...better Sprints

Training
Last year (my first year to erging) I was hooked and rowed 5-6 days a week for about an hour a day. I pushed my workouts hard and often did 10K plus warm up and warm down. <br /><br />After a 5 month layoff due to back pain I am back at it but restrict my workouts to 3 days a week and about 40 minutes. <br /><br />I feel much stronger this year and have broken my 500m and 1000m PBs after 2 months. I feel my 2000m PB will be very soon. <br /><br />I wonder if any others have this same experience. Perhaps over training, not enough rest for the muscles to recover and gain strength?<br /><br />Last note... I suffer more on my odd longer rows though. Cardio is definitely lacking still.<br /><br />Cheers from Edmonton, Canada. <br />Wish I had time to watch the Masters Games rowing.
