Your 7:14.9 for the 2k gives you a PATT percentage of:

1:26.5 / 1:48.725 = 79.6%

A 90% PATT percentage would put you at 6:24.4.

So what? Are you implicitly suggesting something or just doing the math?

I've got a long way to go to get into my top condition to even think of such an arbitrary goal. I'm just happy to be climbing the rankings for now, and see what a year of training will do.

I tend to race at a relatively low SR but when I want to work on increasing my SR I use slides. It is very easy to do high SR with slides and with a low DF it is also is easier on the body. Now when I race I still predominantly row at my typical SR (22-26) but can put it overdrive for a kick at the end and do 35-40 if I have the energy left.

Frank

What distances races are you looking at for these? Even for a 6K race I doubt I would dip below 32. I've always been one for fast SR, although I absolutly hate it when people rush their slide behind me. I guess that's where the line gets thin, between having a nice quick slide, and just shooting forward without control. For 1500m and 2K races, on sweep I stay between 34-37 when stroking a four, but for quads, doubles, and even singles for sculling, I'd say I still stay 32-36. And of course, as Frank does, bring it up for the sprint to 38-42, and when a very tight, important race, we've even gotten up to 47 or so. When we when a race in the sprint, and its because we take the SR up 2 from 35spm to 37spm for 15 strokes, then up again to 37spm for the last 15 strokes, I can't say I'd want to do anything else. It really does win races for us, again and again. Anyone else share this experience?

p.s. Hi everyone, this is my first entry in this forum!
