Hi there, I'm a newbie and have recently got myself a heart rate monitor. Can someone tell me whether the %MHR given in the concept 2 training guides is a simple percentage of someones max heart rate or is it based on the formula that takes the rested HR from max HR, percentages that then adds it back onto the Rested heart rate to give you your banding...

In other words (MHR-RHR) x % + RHR, if that makes sense.

Also what time is best to take rested heart rate, mine is 88 bpm as taken this evening, which is mega high but then I am a 320lb guy! Cheers

The percentages are of your Heart Rate Reserve, determined by the formula you gave. And you should take your resting heart rate first thing in the morning when you wake up, before getting out of bed.

Thanks for your help.
