Hey. I started a month ago, doing 5k in about 25min, then around 23:30 to 23:50. The last two 5k's have been under 22:00... 21:58, and 21:47 to be precise. And it feels really good. I'm truly enjoying my brand new C2.

btw... I've also done a bunch of 30mins, a few 40mins, and a 10k. Getting there, with NO expectations of becoming world class, only really fit!

Well done and you should be proud. You dont need a PB board of your own as your achivements are no less meritorious than some of the 'flyers' out there - so stick'em in with everyone elses, be proud and keep pushing on.

George

Although this is one opinion, I suspect most of the rest of the Forum feels similarly.

In any event, keep the PBs coming! Post them proudly right next to everyone else's. IMHO you have every right to.

Everyone here works hard for what they accomplish and sweat is sweat no matter how fast you go. I look at it this way: I am the fastest lwt, 30-39, male who lives in my house! That is something to be proud of ! Keep posting those PB along with everyone else...

Steve

Just keep at it. Unless you are one of the very few people who were blessed with the right combination of genes to be world class or national class, the only competition that really matters is the one that you set for yourself. Keep making goals, whatever they are, and keep beating them!

(If it makes you feel any better, I'm convinced that a lot of people don't post their results because they do not think they are good enough. Well of course they are good enough, they just don't realize it!)

Funny, but I just got my C2D out of the box the other day. Went for 30 min my first row.

I am in pretty bad shape, but not horrible. I haven't erged before, so don't really know much about what pace/power to expect. In addition, being the first time on it, I didn't want to burn out too quick.

I did a 30 min set.... for 30-39 light wt. I was 115 out of 119. My wife said I shouldn't feel bad. I didn't. I was laughing. It can only go up from there...once the blisters are gone.

There are lots and lots that don't post their times. Many who do...well they post them for a reason...they are fast.

So don't feel bad if you are last or 5th to last. You're still doing a h*** of a lot more for yourself than most people in the world. Plus, when I tell people I am 115th in the world for my age division, it sounds good if they don't know better

Keep pulling,
slow and steady wins the race.

Definitely agree with George.
All post our pb's together.
I know that my 2k pace will always be slower than the 5k pace of the big boys.
But it's still a pb for me.
It shows me that I'm quicker and that all the work has a benefit to me

Last thing we want is a tiered system

I think the top post was based in a feeling of being in the shadow of the faster ergers and missing the appreciation of ones performances from equally fast or faster ergers. Feelings are real, so this thread has served a purpose! An attitude of equal respect for equal exhaustion and similar stuff has been shown here.

Hopefully, now everybody can start to feel that in the old thread as well!

Anyway, Im not too good at expressing what I mean but you probably had gotten the picture beforehand and I dont wan't to get to juicy with the feeling mumbo jumbo. So let's just post int the old thread where everybody is more than welcome and equally acredited for their PBs.

I too am among the rowing Clydesdales. I'll admit that after my first timed entry, it felt frustrating to see how far down the list I was. I then realized that if I have any hope at all of being consistent with the C2, I must focus more on enjoying the journey and be willing to accept small improvements over time, rather than expecting too much, too fast. For the slower among us who read this post, remember - you're not alone. We're all in this together. Good luck, stay safe, and keep rowing!

A PB is a PB, no matter if it's a slow one ore a fast one!
By the way, what is slow? Come on, it's a PB and be proud of it! Let everyone know in the original PB topic. Don't compare yourself with someone who is a lightweight if you're a heavweight or with someone 20 years younger. Or enjoy it when you are faster then someone 20 years younger.

Just got the Model D out of the box last night. I averaged 2.25 for 500splits. Although I only lasted a little over 7minutes. This morning I did the 2k around 10minutes. Hopefully I can get up early tomorrow and do a 30minute workout.

I do have a question:
My arms, upper back and neck(like if you do shrugs) are sore yet I feel almost nothing in my legs. Is this normal?

Before you laugh at my times here are my stats.

6foot 1 inch
12days until 31
and 253lbs

The journey is worthwhile.
As for your soreness, it is difficult to define normal but it sounds as if you are using your upper body far too much. You should look at the technique video which came with the C2 (or, if not, the C2 site). There are also other threads on the forum about technique. You may want to try Xeno Muller's DVDs at www.gorow.com as well.

As I've improved my form (which needs continual work), I've slowed down my stroke rate, made sure my back and arms are straight at the catch, and focused on pushing with the legs.

Good luck,

Neil
M/38/US/LW

I am also new to rowing - 3 months

Put my very 1st time on the rankings. I was in the 98 percentile.

Set my goal for year end at 50 percentile.

I am getting their. My rankings now range from 60 to 75 percentile.

My only fear with constantly chasing PB's is that you set your goals to high and in the end trying to achieve them takes too much effort and you lose interest.

My biggest goal is to keep traing, even if i have to do it at a reduced pace.

I guess i will have to concentrate on training, rather than chasing my PB on each traing session.

Regards Tom

I love my erg
