Training
Does anyone else find it much harder to train by yourself? I own an erg, and i row for my highschool team. I occasionaly workout in my basement but it sometimes seems impossible. Maybe its the atmosphere, but for example, today I rowed for 30 minutes at category 5, and when i finished it felt like it had been an hour. There are so many distractions that make you want to stop and hard to get things done. After that I did a little bit of interval work of 8 X 1' on - 1' off, which wasn't too bad.

Anyone have any opinions?

Hi cforce,
Try internet racing. It helped me getting out a motivation dip I had last January. At that time I discovered internet racing and enjoyed to row 40 to 50 km a week.

Jaap

Listen to music or watch tv. I always listen to music and focus on the erg monitor.

Hennie

All my erging is done by myself in my spare room. I always have music on or sometimes the TV. It can be hard at times to motivate myself. I plan to do 6 days a week but in reality only probably do 5 days most weeks. On the plus side though I dont have to pack a gym bag and get in my car etc to do a session.

My spare room is very small though and south facing so now summer is here its gonna start getting VERY hot in there, I remember it last year and it wasnt pleasent.

the rowing on the machine is tough, it requires mental toughness, especially rowing on your own. Sometimes when you feel like this you might be overtraining, or you might need to make it fun again. I guess motivation is everything.
