I didn't calculate an average but based on current pb it is 24.7 seconds (3:36.0 vs 7:36.7).

Steve
Hi again,

After my last reply I thought, is 24 seconds a normal difference for doubling my 1K time verses my 2K PB time and what is the difference of some of the better rowers on the rankings. I found that generally the difference for those guys is under 15 seconds. For top 50yo ltw this year it is 13 secs, for a top 30-40 ltw it is only 6 secs.

So probably as our conditioning improves we can maintain maximal effort for a longer time. If I hit my goals for this year, my difference will be around 15 seconds.

Cheers

I found the difference to be about 4 sec on my split (1,000m@ 1:43.7 vs 2,000m@ 1:47.4) and a further difference of 2k to 6k split (1:54.5) of 7 seconds. This seems to be consistent with some of the comments I've seen.......but I'm not sure how relevant as the 1k and 6k pieces were done a few months ago and I have not tried a 2k since last winter. It might be an interesting thing to track through the winter.
