Here is a little challenge some of you might like to try. I think it sounds easier than it is.

All you have to do is row 2000m at 20spm; the aim is to do this under 7.00. The fastest I have managed is 7:01.2 which was a good few months ago. You can’t use the excuse that you are a Lwt, as I now a lwt who has done it (His 2K pb is 6:22)

If you have a go, list your time on this thread so we can compare.

Sir Pirate

Another distraction for Roy .... in between marathons, 10's, and upper body workouts ... but it does sound intriguing

I've done a 6:58 at 24 SPM last year (that was hard enough)

Forgot to say that this MUST be done on your normal 2K drag setting.

Sir Pirate

I guess it's better for you , re; race times etc to do the 20 spm at your normal drag.

Not that I agree with that, isn't the idea of 20spm to act as weight lifting on the erg if that's the case then why not use max drag?

Roy, it’s to make you work harder. Just remember the key to it Roy, The harder you pull the handle the further you will go…………easy

Sir Pirate
Only slightly relevant but I always feel that the taller you are in limited SPM tests the better you will do - more so than in an all out row what SPM you like race. If you are a few inches taller you will end up getting an extra stroke every minute over your shot arsed competor without having to do anything much extra.

Having said that I shoud think that doing a sub 7 2k at 20spm would be quite taxing for most, however tall they are. I think I could maybe do 7:15.

Nick
