MikeZ,
Is Mike Jr. going to be erging for the Taffs this season? He did a great job last season, and we haven't seen any meters from him yet?

Dwayne

Back went out last night. I'll think about rowing again when I can walk straight...ouch

Carla,
Sorry to hear that . I hope it gets better soon. Does it also effect your ability to play violin?

David
Really sorry to hear that Carla.
As a fellow back sufferer I can fully sympathise with your current state. Make sure you fully rest it before you get back on that erg so no rushing back (as tempting as it may seem).

We're gonna miss your metres/meters but please don't stop posting on the forum!

Best Wishes from Cardiff!

Nx

Thanks, Niall. I'm wearing a pretty rugged back support belt right now just to get through the day. But I am very encouraged in that all my flexibility work over the year means it is still possible for me to touch my toes, and do various other stretches, even though I'm not able to walk exactly upright and have to take silly little steps. I plan to not row at least a week. I am very sad that I may not be able to go on my once a year women's biking weekend. It's next weekend....sniff sniff

Probably those 100m sprints I did 3 days ago were too much for me. I had posted about them on "thanks Xeno" ....maybe a premature post! I was fine after them. The next day I biked to work, 11.5 miles each way, no big deal, avg over the two legs of the ride 16.5 mph. That night I went to row and it went out during my warm up.

I need a real live coach before I attempt any real sprints again. Obviously even though I think I am doing what Xeno, Paul Smith, etc, and everyone else say, I can't tell what my own body is doing and whatever it is can't take real hard drives. Though I must say it felt awesome to do those sprints at 1:37.

Sorry to hear about your back Carla. As Niall said, take care of it. You don't want to come back to soon.

Well Taffs...it sucks that Carla is down for at least a week. The 'Ducks in a Row' club is right on our heals. Anybody care to step up and put in a few extra meters this week? I'll do my best for an extra five minutes here and there.

Speedy

I'm fine during low spm sessions but as soon as I have to do anything which really involves some exertion, my lower back starts to ache. I'm having a few days rest right now as I did a session involving 1:55@24spm and started to feel the back. I should be doing a sprint pyramid (culminating in 1:45@26spm) but my back's just not ready for that level of stress right now .

Did a row Wednesday and the day after I could not get out of bed. Looks like disturbance of equilibrium, due to a cold.
( I always knew I was the center of the world, but I don't like it spinning around me this way ).
So I think we have to build us a 3- , or wait for another to get sick with us so we can use a standard 4-.
Ok kids...that's two of our serious meter inputs. Now the rest of us really need to step up. A few more recruits wouldn't be so bad either.

Dwayne

I could lay on the floor and spin the flywheel with a stick maybe...

I promise I'll do my part when I'm back. I'll be building back up with lots of long, slow, gentle rows--that'll mean lots of meters, low intensity stuff, for proably a few months.

This belt thing makes me look skinny! (just trying to see the bright side)

Was with RowPro Rowers last year but defected for the new season. I see my meters for last year came with me too - would have been happy to leave them with the team I was with last year.
