Hiya Daren,
I am so sorry for you and your family on your recent loss. My mom past away this past December 30, after a prolonged illness, I was and still am like you a bit listless, I just started back up this past week and while my heart and yours may not be into it yet, I am sure you will come around and be yourself in a while. My deepest condolances to you and your family. Mike and ZJ

G'day Taffs,

Sorry 'bout the absence of posts - consumed by eldest daughter's wedding then straight off to Queensland for a month's stay with Mum (ailing health). No regular Internet access here, today's the first time I've been able to log on.

Sorry to hear youir father passed away Daren, leaves a big hole in one's life. Hopefully you were able to spend some quality time with him. How about dedicating that FM to him ?

Tough on that 10K Chris (and James's 2Ker) great time though and I'm sure you'll have me soon. Don't think I can do the FM yet as the elbow ligaments still a bit fragile. Up to you to be first through the 3 hr barrier (before James crunches it).

Great 2K Carla - but as Carole says, you have a 7:45 in you. Just need to let it rip. I haven't checked Nonathlon out - we must be pretty close on points now.

Cheers to all,

Martin

Having lost my father a couple of years ago, I think Carla's posting sums it up beautifully.

Welcome aboard Eddy, shame about that surname of yours though (English), very unfortunate!

As for a chip buttie, here ya go (sorry I haven't got any suitable photos of Chippy):
<img src='http://www.ukstudentlife.com/Travel/Tou ... Thats it now - prior to the marathon attempt of friday I will be into risca to load up on Chip Butties - mine will have to much butter on it though so melts and runs down your fingers - this may also help with the blisters when doing the FM - cant wait!

He he, sounds like a plan but i won't have time to make mine before I start the marathon tomorrow evening. If anyone's around the Cardiff area tomorrow I'll be doing the charity row at LivingWell - PM me for details if interested

I am trying my first marathon today instead of tomorrow, as my family has gone skiing for the day. So I can take the phone off the hook and be sure of no interruptions, and Friday I have to ferry kids all over the world...

I don't know if I am ready for this, since I haven't rowed more than 12 or 14K on a day since Thanksgiving, at least. But I figure I'll be OK if I go s-l-o-w. I'm planning on holding 2:18, that will give me a little lee way to have drink, snack, put a new DVD in; I'm hoping for around 3:15. 3:02 would be at my HM pace and I know I can't do that. Just want to go the distance, finally, it really bothers me to have that empty square on the Nonathlon grid.

What some people will do for a lousy 100 points!

Carla

I can't imagine eating a french fry sandwich. That sounds awful!!!

Actually, it does sound pretty good. So how much butter is to much?
