Great effort Jim. Was the last 750m as bad as they said it would be?
I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

Cheers,

Kirk

I did the first 1,000 at 2k -1, then the 750 at 2k- 2/3 then the 500 at 2k - 2/3 then the 250 at 2k - 7/8.
I then started out slow on the 750.
I think I had a lot left doing it this way, and I plan on taking at least 10 seconds off.

(These may be more plans, than actually reality.... :o )

Keep on rowin',

Jim

Thanks for the info Jim.

I'm in the boat at 12:08.2. I wasn't really winded, I just didn't feel strong enough to go faster. Perhaps it's being off the erg for 2 weeks. (That shouldn't happen again soon as a new model D just arrived Friday. :D :D :D

John, good work starting the cycling thread. I last raced in 1995. The Nationals were held in Hamilton and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to race so close to home.

Cheers,

Kirk

I'm still having a bit of trouble with my back. Not too serious, but it starts to really bother me around 6k in. Pretty frustrating. I want to help with getting round the globe and doing more races (and the CTC), but I'm trying to hold back and see if things improve. So I'll cycle a bit more for now :( .

Congrats on getting your own erg!!! That's great.

I remember you recently mentioned that you might try some time trials cycling this summer. Out of the limited racing that I've done, that is what I've enjoyed the most. You don't have to worry about anyone else, just the clock. The nationals must have been something. Maybe if you get a chance, you could let me know more about them on the cycling thread (i.e. what event (s) did you do, how many racers, etc.)

Jim, you also did great in the CTC. I read early on that people were saying to go at your 2k pace and you bettered that! Well done! :)

Yeah, really nice to see you in the boat Kirk.

Sorry to hear about your back, John. Patience is the key. Stay away from the orthopods.

I haven't done a 2k since way back in September, I will see if I can shave a few seconds off of my time.

I have finally managed to update the website so you can see your inidividual stats. The table is sortable if you click on the column headings.

As you see, it only keeps track of data since February 13. Our rowbot has automatically tracked the data since then, but the rowbot is still dependent on you to put your kliks into your concept2 log book, eh.

I should be able to customize it now so you can see your individual rows highlighted in the google earth file.

Keep on rowin',

Jim
John, I also have been reading the cycling thread with interest and I hardly even ride. I got into it for a while when I was doing triathlons - when I was reducing my running (because of injuries) but still wanted to compete in endurance events. But reading that topic has started me thinking more about cycling.

Recovering from a brush with vertigo right now - some ear infection. I did a little rowing duing it but I was trying to rest up and get over this. I'm not so sure how enthused I am about this new CTC challenge - I still have a PM2 - seems a bit awkward. Almost seems like one of those astronaut training tests where you have to go into oxygen debt, jump on one foot, and play speed rounds of solitaire all at the same time. But I'm sure I'll eventually come around and give it a try.
Kirk, I envy you getting a new Model D. My old Model C with a PM2 just keeps holding up fine. At this rate, I will have to wait until Model F.

I don't claim to be a good rider, but it's nice to be outside and get the fresh air. I'm looking forward to combining it with erging and a bit of running (Francois might even get me psched up enough to go back to the pool some day, we'll see  .)

Two people that I work with have had problems with vertigo lately. You're probably right that it's an ear infection, but with my co-workers they each had one of the problems listed in this article http://www.thedoctorwillseeyounow.com/a ... tigo_9/ Not to scare you or anything but the one with Meniere's syndrome went completely deaf and now has a cochlear (sp?) inplant. If it continues, you might want to get it checked.

One thing we did Dan that you might want to think about is to just buy the PM3 and retrofit your model C. I kind of like the solidness of the model C without all of the plastic. (At least I tell myself that so I'm OK without the model D :P .) It works great, you can then use row pro and have all of the benefits of the D.

John, thanks for the suggestion on the PM3. I will think about that. And thanks for the article on vertigo. Whoa. I guess the astronaut training program is definitely a no-go. But I'm not disappointed. I have every confidence that Jim will have us rowing to the moon and beyond before long. :)

A watch or clock with a sweep hand can be used for all or part of the rest time. The hardest part for me was writing down the results while panting, with shaking hands and sweat dripping on the note paper

First I'd get the veritgo sorted out. If it's an infection, they're hard to fight while exerting (or over exerting) yourself.

Good luck,

Kirk

It's between my shoulder blades. It's kind of a generalized pain in that area that increases as I row. I've taken several days off of rowing now and might take a few more before I give it a try again. I miss it! :( Are the slides supposed to help with backs?
My favorite part of the few triathalons that I did was the bike leg too, especially when I ungraded to a new bike. Cranking along on a 30 pounder tends to take a bit out of the legs! :D
Jumped into the boat last night with a CTC Rugby Challenge of 11:40.9.
As ulu said, the last 750M was not too bad, but I really felt the initial 1000M row. :?
I might take a another shot latter in the month & include a bit more warm-up.

I enjoy being part of the Eh! Team and contributing to the cause................

Peter

Well, I am out on the road again team. This time it is for pleasure.
Our rowbot looks like he is doing his job and keeping the google earth file and stats up to date without any intervention.
I am going to see if I can go and find a row machine and enter some kliks while I am on holidays.

Keep on rowin', eh.

Jim
