It has come to my attention that chris pomer has bowed out from the competition for a seat in the top 2 boats when he decided that he could not bare the humiliation of being in the second boat. He then decided that he was to good to be on such a low level and abandoned the team that had switched up boat line ups and given him oppertunities that others had to work countless hours to obtain. Not only did he abandon them he quit the team the night before a race and let us all down in a self centered fit of rage. Please let me know your opinion on this atrocious decision.

He was on the USIRT last year (6:03'ish I think).

What I find atrocious is how tall0man1 is ripping him openly for the world to see. Regardless of how he quit, he did in fact quit. There isn't any need to air it like that. Bad sportsmanship dude!

Dwayne

Quit yer bitch'in and go show us how badly you can beat everyone that you are insulting by not participating.) If Chris didn't accept the spot he was in, and was in fact "losing his seat races", there are two sides to that.

1) He did the team a favor by making room for somone else.
2) He was being screwed in the seat racing by attitudes like tall0man1's and knew it was futile to stay on the team.

He's a young guy, and maybe he has other goals that will lead to better things. Regardless, it's his call and he made it, in spite of what I'm sure was great pressure not to.

You may be angry at Chris, but there are much better ways to deal with it than through the forum.

...it can only be the coach's fault.

Well, it could be the coaches fault. It's not easy getting different personalities and egos to cooperate as a team. Quite often the fastest erger is not the one who moves the boat the fastest. Actually, I've found that's almost always the case. It's even quite common to find they may not even be in your top 8 even though they almost always think they should be solely because they are the fastest erger. Technique and sometimes their weight can mean a coach will place a slower erger in the boat. It can be difficult as a coach to keep that rower's attitude positive and supportive of the team. Like Paul said, it's better if a rower with a bad attitude, either because they didn't make the first 8 or because they sabotage the success of another out of jealousy, leaves the team. As a coach you try to do everything you can, but sometimes you just can't reach everybody. Sometimes it's because of how you handle it. Other times they don't want to be reached.
all I can say is that unless you know every single detail involving that decision, or involving why that happened, you should not rag on him on this forum... I think it was a stupid thing to do... He has his reasons, and you probably don't know every single one... Let him be, this isn't something the world needs to know.
