Thanks Dougie ... you're right, Rich will not be there, but there is a great showing of Masters competitors if the rest appear. Some nice times there ... glad I'm one of only two LWs!

Not sure how the time zones go...

I guess you are guaranteed at least silver then, eh?

- Krysta

Not the greatest result ... 7:24.2 ... mind was willing ... but body? Only 3rd best 2K ever.

I'm guessing that doing a Rugby Test on Wednesday, with a near-PB 1K to start the series, was not the wisest thing to do ... ahhh, such is life.

Event was awesome, and incredibly well run ... to the second. More on this later.

Krysta, did you race this weekend?

-- Mark

I raced the senior men 150lb race, had a good solid race, got a personal best at 7:01.7 (I think, I cant remember my time nor did I write it down but I ll see the results when they come online) the thing I noticed was for my finish it was just way to god damn hot in there, I couldnt breathe nor put on a finish. After my race I collapsed on the ground and got me feet out quickly, my friends said to me after my lips and part of my face were blue =/ But in the end I pulled off a 8th place finish for a top ten shirt Fun day in all. mpukita were you the guy racing with the american flag headband? I saw your race from a distance and it looked like ya kinda just burnt out almost.

It was like that last year but 10 times worse because last year I was in Junior 150 Men (and did absolutely terrible!!) and since it was in the morning there were so many more people there it was nuts. The gym is designed for I d say roughly 300 people comfortablly and when you over 800 athletes plus parents, coxies, coach siblings it become a lot more then that.

Its setup well but I just dont like how its always the same every year in it being to hot like I dunno maybe bring some fans in or use the ones, its a gym used by ridley so I would imagine it has some fans installed some where.

Competitions
I agree.

With about 850 entrants, I feel they could run a much better event with a larger facility ... IMO, it's too just too small. But Ridley started it, and likely has some pride of authorship.

Do you know if Ridley has another larger gym or assemply hall that could be used? Maybe they could do weigh in and registration in the building that had the additional warm-up ergs ... that seemed to really screw up the traffic pattern ... especially when I weighed in at 8:45 ... at least 100 entrants in line for both weigh in and registration.

Glad you guys had good times and won a shirt. Wear 'em with pride. You deserve it. The competition was tough!

Hey mark!
I watched your race and cheered a bit but i had to leave at 1000m left to get ready for my race after yours.

Your coxies their were really giving it! One thing i can suggest is; i noticed you put alot of hard tens and whatnot in the early/middle part of the race. In my experiance that kind of thing is redundant and really the biggest effect is has is that it shocks your system and [DE]creases the p[H] in your muscles which is really not a good thing.(this is the kind of thing where you WANT to push harder off the footstops but cant because the enzymes will NOT work in that [p]H so you get a really crappy finish).

None the less, it looked like you put everything on the table and came out with a very respectable time. Congradulations!

My race was great, passed by very quickly and i stuck to my plan beautifully if i might say... I was aiming for an avg. split of 1:45-1:46.

I got into the rhythm and for the top 1500 m i had a 1:45.9 avg split with a 31spm. Bottom 500m i got ready to make my move and started negative splitting... Bottom 300m i started kicking in and emptying the tank... It was about a 35spm and i was around 1:43-1:44.

Final avg split was 1:45.2

Anyways, im treating my illness and hope to get back into the routine this week.

Good luck to everyone!

--edit--
thanks rspenger for point that out. *smacks self on the head*

Thanks Bob (It also makes me cringe some when people try to use Ph, or other scientific terms, in their discussion, but don't really know the correct usage.)

David
I guess that I need a dunking in red ink. It was like being slapped in the face by a wet fish when it struck me, less than an hour after I sent, it that I had screwed up - big time. I was working on cleaning out the garage and mulling over thoughts of pH and pOH - then I remembered what I had said. Your message made it obvious that it was too late to edit it - it had hit the fan already, but I went ahead with th edit anyway. Now, if I could only do something about all these clichés that keep cluttering up my messages, I would be happy - or at least less embarrassed.

Bob S.
