Ranger, I do think you have a good chance at winning the open Vet men 55-59 at the Crash-B's. I think Blagoev might go faster and take the LW time (at least he thinks so). You've wondered if a LW ever bettered a HW winner's time at the Crash-B's. Ironically, perhaps, you have the chance to keep this from happening and since you guys race at the same time on the big screen I think it could be an excellent "race".

32 minutes to race time ... does anyone know anyone else that might be at the race that we can communicate with to get the results?

Is that a 55-59Lwt WR?

Edit-
I can only find a 6:41.9 by Roger Prowse as the WR, is Ranger a WR holder again then?

Edit again.
I am off my nut, Ranger was not Lwt today was he? so it would be Andy Ripleys WR of 6:21.3. So to answer my own question, NO Ranger is not a WR holder again.

Sir P

55-59 HWT Andy Ripley United Kingdom 6:21.3
LWT Dennis Hastings U.S.A. 6:40.8*

From the C2 US website ...

Hard to believe Rich couldn't drop a few pounds and still perform well enough to break the LW record.

Congratulations Rich!
This is very fast! And you haven't really sharpened yet!
This should put to rest any doubts some (myself included, I must admit) have entertained regarding your unconventional training methods!

Regards,

Francois

Very good show!
I predict sub 6:24 at WIRC.
Competitions
I'm predicting a 5:55.0, at least if he matches his lightweight standard from 3 years ago.

Lyle Parker ... 6:37.7 ... age 57 or 58 ... 356.1 watts / 160 = 2.23 watts/pound

Rich Cureton ... 6:29.7... age 55 ... 378.5 watts / 180 pounds = 2.10 watts/pound

Rich rowed heavy weight, but probably not much over, maybe 167 or so. He said he's been concentrating on his rowing rather than on his weight, hoping to do well in Boston. I watched part of his race - he was holding 1:38 most of the way, and then a fast finish at the end to dip under 6:30. He said he was quite happy with the result, having not done any speedwork yet. We might hear from him late tonight after he gets home.

I was hoping to match his good performance with a PB, but just didn't have the energy today. I couldn't hold 1:38 for very long, and ended up with 6:37.6, about the same as last week. Odd, because a couple days ago I rowed 750m at 1:35 pace quite comfortably. Oh well, I tried my hardest - that's all I can ask. Probably starving myself for the last day or so had something to do with it...
