The truth comes out ... this is all about the "cause", ehhh Ranger, and really not about the results.

I'll admit, I'm a slow guy just introduced to this sport, but working hard to get faster. What I want to see is you produce results. That would be a beautiful thing. I love to see people -- anywhere in the world -- who are good at their "craft" -- perform to the highest levels of performance and quality.

If, after all the "talking", you choose to not race (which I believe you've just begun to intimate, oh so slightly, as you've posted the past few weeks), C2 ought to allow every forum member to vote to have you banned from this forum. And that would be right ... because, this ain't a democracy, THEY PAY FOR IT.

The fact that you have hammers -- however many -- is, today, immaterial. Congratulations on your past performance. OK, now that that's over, let's talk about today.

Talk is very cheap these days. It's easy to have people worldwide see your words. Actions? A bit more pricey. Actions require more commitment ... more sacrifice ... more risk ... more investment.

Be courageous and show us what you've got ... or not. But, if you choose to not show us, please just be quiet. That's all we ask.

Friends of the forum, did I get this right???

Please respond ... a straw poll of sorts ...

Regards -- Mark

Don't really feel qualified to express an opinion on this forum Mark, but....

I've no objection to 'reasonable' posting, I find some of Rich's post on the UK forum interesting and some re his training downright awe-inspiring.

But its time to drop the 'C2 unfair' posts, maybe it was unfair, maybe the selection procedure (or lack of it) needs to be public and transparent but we've heard it all now, both on this and the UK forum.
Everybodies opinions on the matter are now deep rooted and unchangable, time now to drop the matter on the forum but continue if he wishes through the proper channels of which this is not one of them.

I'm sure Ranger isn't going to use the criticism on here not to perform at the forthcoming venues he's mentioned, I don't think that would wash with anyone.
I am continuing to pile up the metres in long Level 4 restricted-rate work. I am hopeful that this will persuade some of those recalcitrant ‘fast twitch’ fibres to work more aerobically so that when they are called-upon in a 2K race they will give me just a little more. I am also hopeful that the time I have spent on technique will mean I can extract a little more out of every stroke for the same energy output and than these things taken together will give me a fighting chance of keeping the slow erosion of time at bay for a year or so. Who knows with luck and a good wind maybe I can even improve!

Wishing all good health and good rowing

I remain,

Your forum buddy (and rowing lunatic)

ranger

HOLY CRAP !!!

I've just spent 30 minutes or so sifting thru all the "smack" concerning the USIRT selection...

advice: Show up at the Indoor race of your choice, make the standard, go to Boston and kick ass... If you do - nice work !! If you don't - hopefully you had a good effort and just got beat by someone who was just better than you that day - no shame there...

as far as C2 paying for trips - they can do whatever the h-e-l-l they want - they don't like you or your politics - you don't go...

as far as team selection - it's political - it's usually that way both on the water and off it too

Why not just go with producing results on race day... If you do that - everyone can just kiss your butt... If you don't show up, or have some lame - azz excuse - folks will have every right to thrash you...

just my 2 cents... Mr. E...

So far, they are right on the beaten trail in the business world, which, in any other ethical realm, amounts to wandering _way_ off in the bush.

ranger
Though you seem to be the one waking up whining from time to time.

I'd like to see you perform up to your potential, and never said differently, perhaps I need to reevaluate the areas in which I'd like to see that however, because it never included "World Class Whining".

Now we see a disgruntled "coach" belittling the athlete because the (SPI) training didn't work.

Very sad... and no surprise it has turned out this way.
