I thought he was a lwt -- didn't he make weight?

He raced against himself and lost. Even his daughter told him that he wasn't working hard enough and was barely working up a sweat in the last couple of minutes.<br /><br />It may well have been a matter of peaking too soon, i.e. at the Beach Sprints 3 weeks before. Not a physical peaking, just mental. However, he did do an all time 1k PB on the Wednesday before te C-B, during a workout that was just supposed to get the kinks out after a day of driving and a night of flying. Maybe that was a stupid mistake. He was also spooked by a pulse spike to 196 during a 750m piece on Friday and by 10 minutes or so of a 168 pulse rate during the long cool down that followed. I think that he may have just been too chicken to try to hold the pace under 2:00. Instead, it mostly hovered between 2:01 and 2:02. Final result was 8:06.0, with fairly close splits.<br /><br />Bob S.
