Chris:

I was just having some fun with Nav ... he's a big guy ... he can take it (and dish it out ... duck!). I know you meant no harm in your comments, as I'm sure he didn't either.

You're right, I feel, just like any nation, we have people here in the US who do make some pretty offensive remarks about life outside the US, or about the ways life works outside the US when they are visitors in another's country. I've travelled quite a bit, and it's not hard to find those that have in the past been called "ugly Americans" who, for the most part, I believe are really just uninformed. Sure, there are those people that are just plain nasty ... and there's no excuse for their behaviour. But, I've found that when you can explain "things" to those that are purely uninformed, they begin to understand that it's not an issue of "right" and "wrong" but rather that "things" are just "different".

My feeling is that we're a pretty inwardly focused nation, for the most part. The percentage of US citizens that have travelled outside the US, I would venture to say, is likely much lower than most any other developed country in the world. It's also my opinion that Americans are much less inclined to learn a second (or third, or fourth) language, which would really help "connecting" with those from other countries. I believe our schools have let us down in this regard ... or maybe the public has let down the schools by not supporting a more stringent language requirement in our public schools.

Regards ... Mark

That sucked. I don't want to do THAT again. ARG. But you can be sure, the competative side of me will kick in and I'll try it again and see if I can beat my time, even if it's for myself. 8)

Check this...I PM'd Graham to see if he was going to do the challenge one more time this month. Unfortunately, he's not. Still to tired from Boston, and headed out of town on a trip for the rest of the month.

However...he did write back and said that he had pulled a 1:10.1 250m piece a bit ago. He said 'I did a 1:10.1 250m so would reckon I would be sub 1:11 but you never know with these things.' I say bullocks. I think he would have been sub 1:10 myself. So no updated 300m for him, but you can just imagine what if would have been... Seriously crazy fast!!!

Dwayne
