Does anyone out there know what the current WRs are for the 3km relay?

The times I have are the following:

Men - 7:39 (Brits I think)
Mixed - 8:27.9 (no idea who holds this one)

Junior - ????

Any other category that I missed for this event?

Thanks for the help

Dwayne

Dwayne,

MAD hold the mens and mixed ones.

The mens one was rowed in Mar 2004. Ave pace was 1:16.1. Can't remember exact time but will check the results for you.

The mixed one was done in April 2004 with Chris Brett, Rachel Scott, Claire Derham & me. Our ave pace was 1:24.6 (51spm) Got a pic of the 4 of us around the display clock in my trophy cabinet

I think the Old Wrecks hold the womens record. It would have been set in the 2003/04 GP season. Will check the fastest times there and let you know.

I'm not sure any times have ever been recorded for Junior or lightweight, so in theory, they are records up for grabs!

Cheers

Jon

I thought I read something about 500m changeovers, but that doesn't seem quite right given the Avg Paces being listed. Though if you had a bunch of 1:14ish guys I suppose that would be possible.

You can change over as often as you wish. We generally change every 10 strokes.

In fact in the mixed relay Chris and myself were on 12 stroke and the girls were on 10 strokes.

Also you are allowed 2 extra helpers to either hold the foot straps or as we sometimes do, 1 foot strap holder and 1 seat holder. These helpers can touch any part of the erg but can NOT touch the handle.

Hope this clears a few things up.

Cheers

Jon
Thanks for the info on this Jon.

From what I got from Phil (Sir Pirate) the mens WR is a 7:39 (that's a 1:16.1 avg).

We're running the event this weekend (4 Feb) and have had alot of junior interest in it. I'll pass it along that the records are up for grabs.

Dwayne

Well, it looks like we didn't break our American mark from last year. We had some serious exchange issues that put a kink in our plans. A couple of dropped handles, missed seats. What a mess. Yeah well...there is always next year.

Thanks again for the record info Jon.

FYI - I couldn't convince any of the juniors to participate. So there weren't any bench marks set.

Dwayne

P.S. Jon (or any Brit for that matter), can you tell me when the Grand Prix season starts and ends for you guys?

Jon (or any Brit for that matter), can you tell me when the Grand Prix season starts and ends for you guys?

C2 stopped the Grand Prix in 2005/2006 and replaced it with the National Championship series (http://www.concept2.co.uk/racing/nationals.php). These Nationals are made up of the Welsh, Irish, English and Scottish Indoor Rowing Championships.

The indoor rowing season pretty much runs from July (Evesham Golden Mile) to April (Kingston IRC) currently. The season is based on the events that organisers are willing to put on though so there's no strict season period for the regional events. The race calendar (which is updated as and when events are confirmed) can be viewed through the link below:

http://www.concept2.co.uk/racing/calendar_uk.php

Hope that helps.
