I saw this posted today:

New for the 2006 season, to enter a time that qualifies for a top 3 spot in your event, you MUST notify Concept2 PRIOR to rowing and entering the time.

Plus it has to be rowed on a public machine.

Perhaps we should also insist upon a steroid test!

First infraction for violating policy is that we take the seat away.

I agree with most responses, Concept 2 re-think this. As a rower, indoor and out, that doesn't need to worry about being witnessed for a top 3 spot, I think this is a poor decision for the Concept 2 community. Part of the appeal of posting times and rankings is the Concept 2 Honor System. Personally, I know my personal best times on pieces I have rowed have been unplanned. My Crash B time for 2k was much worse than during my training. Apparently, there must be some controversy over ranking times for this change in policy. Why not think of other options: sponsor other indoor events for distances other than 2K at "public forums" for some official time. But keep in mind,an individual rower's motivation is to best their own time - it would be ludicrous to not be able to post a winning time.
