I use "eload". You can personalize it with "zone cap" depending how hot the temperature is or if you sweat a lot.

http://www.eload.net/eHome.htm
http://www.eload.net/eCustomizing.htm

Also use GU, small amount of sugar. I mostly use these while biking 1+ hrs...never for rowing..usually 30-60min for me.

I think Ultima is the best product I have used. Generally I use these on my 20 mile runs and have found that I am in much better sorts at miles 15-20 with it on board. I find that most of these products dont make much differance from water if you are only doing up to an hour of work. However anything over 70 to 80 mins of work I have noticed a dramatic difference in performance with Ultima. There is this stuff made by hammerhead or somthing like that ... hammer gel... I dont know but it tasted too strange for me. Dont use anything you can get at the 7/11 its full of sugar and will make you bonk. EmerganC is great after the work out but I find that the high levels of VitB and C mess my tummy up. Just my 2bits

Is that good or bad that its only electrolytes?

If you need to sweeten to taste, there's a veritable onslaught of health promoting, 100 percent natural, nutritive sweeteners out there now. Many are actually anabolic wheras sucrose, maltodextrin and artificial sweeteners are catabolic:

Fructo-oligosaccharides [Mamordica grosvenori--derived from an Asian citrus fruit]

Xylitol [natural polyol derived from birchwood and other plants--human body manufactures small doses daily]

Stevia [s. rebaudiana--extract from a Paraguayan shrub plant]

Erythritol [similar to xylitol with even fewer calories]

Agave nectar [derived from the Agave succulent--a sort of vegan honey]

Palatinose [a naturally occuring non-cariogenic constitutional isomer of sucrose]

Inulin [a natural fructan]
