Hi Everybody,

I have a friend who has been rowing in my basement. She is getting hooked and is looking to buy a model B or C. (Can't afford the latest and greatest)

Anyone have one they would like to sell? We live in north-west Indiana, USA. Helping someone else to get hooked on rowing could be a justification for upgrading to a model D .

Susan

Ebay sounds like wads of shipping money, can't think of where to look in the classifieds, but may check that out just to see if anybody threw an ad in there.

Michele

They do charge a lot for shipping on Ebay.

That's because most of them use UPS.

I got a model C a year ago from Ebay, and the shipping was $41 with FedEx.

(Be sure to look at pictures, as sometimes the descriptions don't ID the brand they're selling--you could get a bargain because others didn't realize it was a C2...) At any rate, Craig's list purchases are local, so are usually for "pick-up", so no shipping involved.

Good luck.

Alissa
I second the idea to look on Craig's List (that's how I bought my C in 2005). I saw a Model C on Craig's List New York City for $375 just last week. I often see Bs or Cs at far below the going price on Ebay. I have seen a B at - I think - it was $125 or something like that. Many times these machines have seen little use and it's Manhattan apartment dwellers looking to unload a very large piece of equipment from their small homes. I am not sure the selection is as plentiful in cities outside of the Northeast like Philly, NYC and Boston (where rowing is more popular).

I had never heard of Craig's list. I just checked Indianapolis and Toledo and no rowing machines but I will keep watching it! I'll try Chicago and Cincinnati next.
Thanks.

Try Row2k.com classifieds

The ergs may be a bit pricier and more heavily used than the ones on the non-rowing specific sites.

Great idea! The C2 is so sturdy that even with wear it woudn't cost all that much to "fix" it up.
Thanks!
Susan
Regarding the purchase of used ergs:

Check with all of the local resources you can find:
--Local universities with rowing teams
--friends who know other rowers
--local gyms that have ergs

I was able to find 2 Concept2 rowers for $250 each
and they are in great condition, used only a little.

===================================

QUOTE(holladay @ Feb 7 2006, 11:46 AM)

Hi Everybody,

I have a friend who has been rowing in my basement.
