New HM PB today, by about 30 sec 1:28:41.3 2:06.1 24 spm (slides)
I was trying to watch Mr & Mrs Smith, but for a violent film there are lots of quiet conversations, so I still have no idea what happened any more than after reading the NetFlix envelope. By the time my husband and daughter came home from karate about 45 minutes had gone by so it was no use having the volume turned up then. It wasn't a bad HM. I used Rerow and was ahead of the boat all the way (the previous one was on slides, too) and mostly just stayed steady. During the last half I did a few 1000s at unrestricted rate instead of trying to stay at 10 spm to rest, and managed to sprint the last 200 in the mid 1:40s.

Any improvement on this is going to hurt.

New 2k PR last weekend at CRASH-B's, 8:08.3 down from 8:09.3. I started the season off with 8:16, I'm a junior lwt.

I'm really happy with my time, and I want to get another PR this weekend. I'm hoping by the time I graduate (I'm a sophomore in high school now) I can be sub-8

You're fast already and have lots of time and potential to get even faster over the years. Keep it up! :)

I wish I had started when I was your age, too... Not that I am quite over the hill yet. :P

Ok, a personal best for me...I haven't been the most consistent rower in the past year, but have been working on that in the past 2 months. May have paid off a teeny bit. My new PB for the 5k is 27:13.0...........the old one for this season was 29:38.5, and the best for the 5k that I did last year was 27:13.3 . So either way I shaved some time, and I think that it felt more comfortable than last year's attempt. That one I went out fast and had to slow down at the end. This one was pretty steady, didn't hurt until the very end. I could have maybe picked up the avg pace instead of throwing in the power 10's at the end. :)

It would be interesting to see how it would feel to do the piece over and try to just maintain the average pace you ended up with from the start, or perhaps start just a tad slower than the ending average and gradually pick it up as you go along.

New 60 min pb by a few hundred meters--14,510 2:04 (on slides). The goal was to do better than 2:05. This felt pretty nasty at the end and I had to let up on 10mps here and there and take it easy at a higher stroke rate. I don't think I can do better than this right now but maybe in a month or so, as I'll be doing lots of hour rows and hm's to prepare for the marathon (got to get a mug a year!)

We're doing one last 2k test before the end of the season and I'd really like to go sub 8, and I think it's just going to be a mental block if I can't do it, I think I'm strong enough. I'll keep you posted!

Keep thinking in the direction that you CAN do it and sort of drill it into your head that you are a sub 8 rower. If you've done the training and keep working at it and focusing on believing it, I think you'll do it.

Hi ducks
I have been v bad at posting on this site for some time now. I seem to be doing more on the UK forum at the moment.

New 2k pb :D :D :D :D - I went down to the Cornish IRC and rowed 7:58.7 which was a major improvement on my previous best of 8:11.0. Really pleased as it was my first competition. I've not managed to get much training done recently as job, kids etc seem to have taken up most of my time for a while. I will post all my metres soon as I have a pretty big backlog stacking up since I got my PM3.
