I did a 5k at 27:46 today. I'm getting faster, but nowhere near as fast as most of you are!

2:30/500m is not an easy light rowing pace for me!! (yet!)

Right you lot don't shout at me....

The demon in the conservatory called me in this am so In thought mmm I will just try and see if I can actually row with my bad leg on the footplate ... all went well could actually get the old foot in there without it hurting ..... so went for a gentle 10 mins at a 2.30 23spm can only do half slide though ...leg not hurting...

thought I'd have a go at 1 min on 1 min rest with higher spm...still can only half slide ankle and foot won't bend managed 6 all below 2.00 so pleased with that.

Then 10mins cool down... feel really chuffed with myself now as got up feeling like a fat frump ....

so total of over 6k for the session .... will try and make it 7 tomorrow but just do a slow row ...
Hey Carole - wouldn't dream of shouting at you! Just be careful and don't be so hard on yourself.
The Buffle

After a 500m warmup, I did a 10k and after a brief rest I did a "just row" at just over 5k, so I am very excited that I finally rowed more than 15k in one day! I've got a lot more blisters too.

During my 500m I really concentrated on trying to get the 10 strokes per 100 meter thing down. I am happy to report that my 500m took 52 strokes, which is a lot closer than I thought I could get.

I am seriously thinking about getting the seat pad for our erg. Do any of you other gals use the pad, and does it help?

Thanks!

I use a seat pad all the time. Without one, purple bruises appear on my backside after even a short row. I cut up a blue camping pad into a bunch of butpads - the foam is sufficiently soft, but still firm & (very important) does not slip at all while rowing. Cheap, too; about $7 for a pad which yields 8 or so butpads.

Big congratulations to La Flaca on the 2K - great time, no wonder you're on the national team of Argentina! Go you girl!

Carole, love the orange plodding pony - but, hey, slow exercise is better than no exercise. Hope for good news & back to 2 legs on the erg soon.

Forum went down on Friday before I could hit send - but workouts: Fri. 5+K warmup & 15x 3min on, 1 min off, Sat. 20 min Wolverine plan level 4 + 12 K rowing in single, Sun. rowing in 8+ & 5 K erg warmup, today 40 min level 4 Wolverine plan + 3K, 2K, 1K harder, about26spm. Getting ready for on the water races SOON.

Him indoors is on earlies so took the opportunity to limp onto the erg ..the swelling has come down a lot so... 30 mins at 22spm 2.19.6 so was pleased with that as only doing half slide as can't bend the ankle properly then 10 mins cool down. Also done some sit ups n hand weights I will be back .. .

Went up to check the boat hadn't sunk or anything silly yesterday and manage a small walk without the crutches along the marina . Left it snowing like mad in Bury but got to Cumbria and nothing. Today is a beautiful sunny day.... wish I could walk the pups......... sorry lotta drivel here lol ...
Looks like our training thread has been a bit quiet for a few days! Come on ladies, what's going on with everyone!?

Anyway, I did a 5000 meter piece tonight, followed by a very short 272 meter cooldown. Should have been a longer cool down, but I lollygagged so much during the majority of the 5k that I really opened up on the last bit and ended up TOTALLY out of breath and a bit light winded. Not bad for my 2nd row back from a week sick! Anyway, overall it was pretty slow: 29:04.6 for the 5k, but it ranked 108 out of 116 or 93% for my age/sex/weight. Since my other lenght and time rows are all 99% or so it felt good.

Ok, now waiting for the ladies to post!

Yesterday I woke up with a severe migraine. I ended up back in bed until mid afternoon. I did manage to 11027m in a very slow easy row late afternoon.

Today I am hoping to do a decent long row, will let you know how it goes later this afternoon.

Well I started my workout this afternoon with a 60 minute row for 11,407 meters 23 spm, 2:37.7 (my goal was 2:39), followed by a very slow 5256 meter row. This was my first 60 minute row, so I was quite pleased.

Did a slow 5k tonight. I did the warmup and cooldown in the 5k which took the time down quite a bit, but I had a rough day at work and got home pretty late. Off to study, clean house, eat dinner, and sleep! Grrr!

5k: 35.34.1

Yesterday did a long row 10 x 5:00 w/3:00 active rests. I did the work segments at an average 2:28.7 pace and the rests at about 2:40 for a total of 15,564m.

Today will be 2 x 5K, the first at an average 2:32 pace and the second much harder - hopefully better than 2:23 (my prior PB this year).

Today I did my longest row, a half marathon!!! I did it in 1:58:48.3. I was happy to finish in less than 2 hours, but most of all I was happy to finish.

Your first 1 hour row, followed the next day by your 1st 1/2 Marathon? Wow. You continue to inspire me, and make me worry just a little that you'll overdo it en route to your goal. Be careful, but You Go Girl!
So, inspired by you, I did my first 1 hr piece today, at 2:36.4, a little below my goal pace of 2:39. No 1/2 marathon for me tomorrow though! I felt like a rubber duck about the middle of the piece, my bum is chafed along the top seam line of the padding in my bike shorts , and I'm definitely not ready for a 1/2 marathon. But with your leadership... soon.
Wow Kathi!!!
Marisa
a row ma
