OK - who voted for 100k? Actually I think I know...

I voted for the HM, simply because it's holiday challenge time and (selfishly) I need the meters! Also, that being such a long race, it would be good to have some company at the end, instead of typically being so stretched out that we barely even see one another.

I voted for 3000 meters. It is a distance I can do under 10:00 so, it looks cool with I row 9:XX and breaking 10:00 is a good goal time.

Another distance I would like to do is 1609 meters. It is another distance where a number of us could get under 5:00. I would imagine, having not done a 1609 meter piece, that is would be like doing a 1500 meter piece all out and then your instructor yelling, "OK, give me 10 more!"

Hey, looks like 100K just pulled even with the 1/2 marathon! Now, do we use our best 100K this year to figure the handicap?

OK, the 1/2 thon would be my second choice, but I think the marathon row coming up on rowpro should be handicapped too.

Jeff

I would be in for a 3K too. As the 2k races in the area here are getting nearer, it's about time for me to focus on shorter, higher pace pieces. 3K is a great over-distance race if you're focussing on 2k races this winter... Bummer that it's not a nonathlon ranking distance though;

On the other does the HM sounds like fun too; that would be my 2nd vote. It defintely helps to have some company in the longer pieces and doing this one the handicap way may add another dimension to the HM. Don't think I can shave off much of my current PB tho.

Cees

I voted for the 4k. The 3k is too short for me.

It just takes someone willing to set it up. Any volunteers?

I put down 4000m but would also like the 3000m. 21097m would not be good for me at the moment, In the New Year I will be starting my training for that distance for a pb attempt early Next Year.

Sir Pirate

I picked the HM since it is the shortest ranked event to choose from. If I do a PB, I want something to show for it!

Paul Flack

I can see why you consider Thomas to be the brains of your relay team!

I do very well in HMs, that means there is little room for improvement. Handicap races reward improvement. That is why the sandbaggers and newbies do so well.

Cheers,

Paul Flack

Now Paul - why'd you have to go and tell everybody my secret reason for voting for the HM? (It's about the only distance left where I can sandbag, er, improve)!

Looks like the 3k and HM are the popular favorites. We'll need to put our thinking caps on to estimate handicaps for a 3k...
