Power or Pace during Interval Rest

Post by mrpiii » August 31st, 2013, 1:55 pm

When I do intervals, I like the rest interval power to be at a percentage of the interval power, like 65% of my workout watts. Unfortunately the PM4 won't display that information. I don't know if it is not available but the field that displays that data during the workout, displays the Interval # during rest. It would be desirable to have Watts of Pace displayed.

Why do you want that, it seems 100% pointless?

But, if you, really, want to do that, then program all of your reps with 0:00 rest time and program the resting intervals as a rep.
You can have 30 reps on Intervals:Variable. You can program a mixture of distance and time reps.

Thanks, good workaround even though I think the PM4 should display information during the rest. Why do I want to do it? Because my coach says, "Do it!" (and he's bigger and meaner than a s...) You can see the point; the idea of intervals is to train your body to work harder by doing the exercise in intervals so it gets used to the level of effort. Part of that is not just stopping during the rest period but maintaining some level of effort. It seems to work.

Thanks again for the workaround. Why didn't I think of that? Probably too many intervals.
