Hi!
I have made small linux/python framework that I use to read data (via USB)
from PM3/PM4 computers. Everything seems to be OK, but there is one
weird and very annoying problem.
The problem is when I connect to ERGs (especially PM4 ones) they sometimes try to be
"clever" and start to ask updating, not only during standby but when people are rowing.
If you don't respond pressing tabs very quickly /in some seconds/ then all rowing results are cleared and
workout starts from beginning! That happens somehow random and not always in all ERGs.
That is absolutely annoying and I cant predict when that happens. Sometimes after 10, 20, 30 minutes...
I am just asking, somebody has any ideas how to avoid (to "say" manually from pm3/4 menus/button combinations or using some programs)
that:
1. when some computer / computer like device is connected via USB to ERG, dont try to start update.
2. if 1. is not possible its satisfactory when updating is only on standby time / not during rowing workout.
Thank You in advance!

Re: How to avoid PM4/PM3 update during workout
I think you need to start by running the C2 Utility program and getting all your PM3/PM4 monitors updated to a current firmware version.
It shouldn't start trying to do that when a workout is in progress.
If your PM3 monitors are too old then run http://software.concept2.com/pm3firmwar ... 1Setup.exe to get them to V101, then use the utility to upgrade from there to a current version.

Thanks Citroen!
To be absolutely sure I'll try to upgrade to newest versions this PM4-s (because problem is only with them).
But as our trainer says all our PM4-s are upgraded to newest versions.
The strangest point is that they give interrupting messages when workout is in progress. As You mentioned that should be impossible at all.
I'll try to catch this (error) message, make picture and post here. Maybe that gives more clues to follow.

Re: How to avoid PM4/PM3 update during workout
Now I got error message once again. The error is "Pc Software fault Code 938 - Fault with Pc Software: Contact software vendor to report problem or update to newer version" ... Yes, previously I understood it wrong, the basic point is not to update ( updating is just one suggestion that my be helps solve problem). Google and Concept2 forum gave just some clues - the main reason is that external Pc software and inner-ERG computer just have in communication some kind of "traffic jam". PC software sends too much data/asks too much data from ERG.
ERG computer cant handle that queries and error rises. May be solution can be just control in-out communication speed, putting some delays in between communication (inside program).
by http://concept2.co.uk/software/pm4#versions
is latest version 318.
Our ERG runs at the same version - 318
Maybe somebody can give some other explanations to Code 938 and suggestions how to handle that?
