I agree. But to be realistic, I don't think we can expect C2 to much of anything on this front. For some reason, their computer support even for windows is very lacking (how long to update the PM; how limited erow was, etc). C2 has given up developing internet support or erow, turning it over to rowpro.

I do remember a post on the UK forum about someone who had developed some app for Os X and the PM2+. I have a PM3, so I never f/u with that post. He was talking about support some kind of internet racing fx too.

I decided to just pick up a junk pc (I ended up using one I saw we were throwing away at work) and am now running rowpro, which is really nice. My mac is not next to my rowing machine, so you sort of need an extra rowing dedicated computer anyway (unless you have a laptop).

If anyone has a MAC or Linux box with a PM2+, then email me and we'll see if we can get a copy of the software I created working (written in Java and tested on Windows, so shouldn't be too much of an issue). It was originally part of an undergrad project, and I had plans to expand it to include PM3 support and many other features. However I'm now unsure with RowPro as they already have an exisiting customer base. Also I'm unsure how many others are trying to get in on the market.

I'd be very interested in getting a copy of your software to test. Could you give a quick overview of the inner workings of your interface and if there is any documentation or a copy of your dissertation - that would be great. What kind of internal amendments would need to be made to include support for the PM3?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Regards,

ribot
Hi.

It seems a lot of the software is written using VB or .NET - Are the developers aware of Mono?

Mono is an open source implementation of the .NET framework that runs on Win32, Mac OSX and Linux. It is still relatively young, but it has recently passed the v1.0 milestone.

More information is available at http://www.mono-project.com/about/index ... br>
I'd love to be able to row on OSX or Linux...

Regards,

Michael

I think support for 10.1 would be ideal for the people who paid for OS X, but don't want to shell out $100 for all of those OS upgrades. I think you'll find a lot of users out there running 10.1 and holding on to their extra money until the landscape settles a bit. For my purposes, that's enough to make me want my Mac software to be 10.1 compatible.

As far as I know, IOHIDOutputTransactionInterface and IOHIDQueueInterface were available on OS 10.0 and haven't changed since then. So if you end up using that method (it's the method I use) -- hopefully they'll work fine without adjustments.

In my opinion OS 9 support isn't really necessary at this point. I'm pretty sure "HID Manager" isn't part of CarbonLib on MacOS Classic, so it's not going to come for free.

Mike
