PM5 Features Request - Strokes Data

Post by WBGavin » March 3rd, 2022, 7:56 pm

Hi,

It would be nice to add Average Strokes/minute and Total Strokes per session to the Current Strokes per minute display. All the information in meters may be of interest to those that have/will actually row competitively, buy are of little relevance to the rest of us.

Thanks

You get that with Ergdata.

It should have been in the monitor years ago but it was never implemented until ErgData came along.

I convert the total stokes for all my rows to an accurate average spm to 1/10ths of an spm and log it in the comments.

The monitor could now have loads more features to help the serious rowers but change just doesn't happen.

The shorter rows like the 1minute is stuffed in that you cannot change the split times to 10sec, 20 sec or 30sec for example.

The graphics display could have a cool heartrate decay graph and timer that starts the second you stop rowing, instead I need to grab a stopwatch and manually capture the 1min and 2min recovery points. You should be able to program in an endpoint like 100bpm and have the PM5 do it all instead of sitting there at the end of a row doing nothing.

It would be nice to add Average Strokes/minute and Total Strokes per session to the Current Strokes per minute display.

Using the PM, if you set split one minute and any time, you'll see the number of strokes completed in each single minute.

The minute is an arbitrary measure used traditionally by coaches with a stopwatch as a training guideline for their crews, and brought into erging by C2 on the PM, as also the 500m pace. It's relatively easy to maintain a rating +/- 1 with no assistance. You will have noted the large differences between say 18, 20 and 23.

The PM also gives us access to stroke quality control, a very powerful training tool if used in conjunction with rating.
