Venue Race stopped responding to machines

Post by mikemurf22 » March 7th, 2016, 9:33 pm

We did an event last weekend where we tried to use Venue Race, but had to abandon it after it stopped working. The format, which isn't the way the software was designed, is to have 2 teams of 2 racers, who each row a 500 meter race. We set it up so racers 1 and 2 were a team and racers 3 and 4 were a team. When racer 1 was done, then racer 2 would start his 500. It worked fine the first 2 times, but the 3rd time, it failed to pick up racer 2 and 4. We had 2 stations set up, each with 4 ergs and it's own computer. The software was consistent in that it did the same thing on both computers on the third race. We didn't want to slow down the event so we just scrapped using the software. Is this a known bug? Is there a better another software program that could handle this better? Is there another way to have set up the race?

If you set-up a two member team race for 500m per rower than it works by setting a combined distance for both members of the team of 1000m. Each rower deducts some metres from 1000m, when the total remaining for the team goes negative the team has completed their task. All rowers start rowing at the same time so overall (on average) it appears as a 500m race.

If you have one strong rower and one weaker rower it could mean the stronger rower does 550m while the weaker does 450m to get their combined 1000m done.

It's always worked that way.

Four rower teams would have a combined total of 2000m, etc.
