PM3 distance readings

Post by egandan » September 25th, 2008, 4:40 pm

Hi,
Firstly i will say i am new to the Concept rowing machine, but i have been using it recently in my gym. there are 2 machine (d models i think) with PM 3 monitors.
The issue is 1 of them tells me i have completed 2000m in 4:48 whereas on the other it takes around 8 mins for 2000 (more realistic based on the rankings i have seen here!). The meter on the monitor look fine, start at 2000m and move very quickly down to 0m. Re-checked the 500m split times and there were ~ 1;12.On the face of it everything looks ok, just the time is unrealistic..
Presumably this is a problem with the PM3 monitor? or is it some other setting that needs to be adjusted.

What should i tell the gym management to do?( i dont think they know too much about the workings of the rower).
Thanks.

I can't remember the exact keystrokes to fix this, but I am pretty sure that the one PM3 (showing you going at below world record pace) is set incorrectly for a model C, not a model D, and that is what is producing that error.

Sometimes the PM3 will forget the confuguration when the batteries have been allowed to go flat for more than 30 minutes. It's easy to reset (you can do it yourself).

Main menu --> More options --> Utilities --> LCD Contrast

Once on the LCD contrast menu press [change units] three times, then press [change display] three times and the hidden configuration menu appears. On that menu choose the correct model type and press set type.

That should stop you getting the better than World record times.
