PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
Five days ago I updated my PM5 with the latest firmware V175.
All seemed ok until I ran RowPro whereupon when a row was selected and GO pressed the countdown commenced then boom! PM5 showed Error code 65-100. Tried again, but the same. Contacted C2 by email only to be told that there was a bug with RowPro that the firmware had identified.
What utter tosh!! More like the firmware is (as has been for a long time) inadequate and that it is at fault.
I am currently in a battle with a C2 individual who is in denial, and trying to get C2 to provide the flexibility to revert back to a previous level of firmware should there be an issue. Just for reference I am running RowPro for mac V5.4 on an old Macbook pro with OS 10.12.6. I use this as my rowing laptop and for nothing else hence the old OS and software versions.
If anyone else is thinking of upgrading their firmware I would think twice if you are running RowPro. If it is running ok then leave it alone.
Also if any of you experience the same issue then I would urge you to bombard C2 with your displeasure, as I have done.
You Have been warned!

Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
This has happened a couple of times over the years as the RowPro versions and the monitor firmware leapfrog one another.
Concept 2 should make it easier to roll back to an earlier version of firmware and have a page of all the legacy versions but instead you need to contact them and have it sent to you.
Quite a weird way of using the file as well you need to drag it over the top of the updater icon and it opens with the option of going back to that version.

You mean "Digital Rowing" as they're the ones who create and maintain RowPro.

There's never a need to "bombard" anyone as C2 are one of the most responsive companies on the Internet.
Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
I have to agree with Citroen's assessment of C2's responsiveness. As a daily EXR user, and an active member of their Discord server, I haven't seen similar reports from users there, suggesting that indeed RowPro might do unexpected stuff here.
Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
There are many versions of PM5 out there. Mine has firmware V214 and exhibits the same behaviour with RowPro.
"Just Row" works OK but a preset workout doesn't.
Probably there is a longstanding incompatibility between RowPro and C2 that was previously benign, and isn't any more.
It appears that development of RowPro is moribund, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix.
I switched grudgingly to ErgData a year or so ago.

If you guys think you have problems try the PM5 with RowPro and ErgData with an ANT+ HR strap all running at the same time.

Wait, are you saying there is a way to downgrade?Carl Watts wrote: ↑December 1st, 2023, 3:38 amQuite a weird way of using the file as well you need to drag it over the top of the updater icon and it opens with the option of going back to that version.
I received a massive battery drain after firmware upgrade and contacted Concept2 asking for downgrade but they refused that.
Now I am stuck with PM5 eating battery every two weeks.
I know it started after firmware upgrade but Concept2 is telling me it is impossible.
I gave up.
Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
I also have had this issue with the PM5 turning itself on after I have turned it off and thus draining battery power.
This has been happening for a few months.
Since 1/1 the display would not register when I used the rower, even though the monitor was on.
Today I found a section to confirm the model and once I had done that it started working again, but it still will not stay off.
Have you found a solution?

Nope, no solution.
Meanwhile, Firmware 176 is available.
Didn't make any difference in my case.

Similar problem - getting error 65-1 after updating PM5 from v36 to v37.
C2 blaming rowpro.
Can confirm beta version of rowpro v6 does not generate an error but is far from finished user interface. If I can't downgrade the PM5 software it looks as if I will be paying rowpro for the new version when released.
In the meantime rowpro v5 not useable.
Conspiracy?!

Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
You can do a roll back to an earlier firmware version, you need to get C2 to send you the file.
with the *.bin file on the desktop you just drag the icon over the top of the C2 utility icon, the utility then opens and asks you if you want to revert to the earlier firmware.
e-mail C2 support and get the file sent to you.
Just checked my software file and I have V168 for the PM5 so I rolled back at some point due to an issue.
I asked C2 to put up a legacy firmware page years ago but probably this is more of a headache for their support team than its worth. Most users never have an issue and in fact pretty much nobody even bothers to update the firmware at all going by all the monitors that I get in for service.

Re: PM5 latest Firmware V175 Glitch WARNING
The latest version of ErgData will warn you each and every time you connect, and it will offer to update over bluetooth. I don't know if gym owners are happy about it (especially when people can walk away mid-update), but as a home owner using ErgData, I won't miss any updates...Carl Watts wrote: ↑February 26th, 2024, 5:48 pmI asked C2 to put up a legacy firmware page years ago but probably this is more of a headache for their support team than its worth.
